Hi, I am having a bad day and night. My daughter who is 49 is being checked for Lupus,,blood work and an appointment to see a Rhumatraligist(u know what I mean)..it will take her a year to get in to see him.Grrr makes me angry that our waiting lists are so lonh. Her hands are getting real bad , all her knuckles,it is not suppose to happen to our children, oh I know but it does. Thanks for listening.
Oh Vicky, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I know how hard it must be to try to be possitive for your daughter right now, but you need to try. No these kinda of things are not suppose to happen to our kids and this stinks. Also I hate that you all have to wait so long for appointments, and yet I can call in the morning in get in the same day. I am affraid of social medicine. I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers. Could you please keep me updated?Sending lots of hugs your way, Robin
I'm so sorry Vicky. I understand how you feel - my oldest son has had big health problems since he was 16. After years of being shuffled around from doctor to doctor and no one having any answers, he was finally sent to a Rheumatologist. At 20, he was diagnosed with Connective Tissue Disease. He has an autoimmune disease, but they don't know which one... his labs have indicated he may have more than one.
It is so hard watching your kids go through this stuff. I have lupus and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, yet my son may very well have it.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your daughter. Lupus is called "The Great Imitator" because it mimics so many other things. I hope your daughter has something else, but if not, Lupus is manageable. I am stunned that it will take her a year to get in with a specialist - that's awful.
Oh Vicky, I am so very sorry to hear this. I am sure that you are worried sick for her, hopefully she is close to you, and you can spend time with her.
A year is a very long wait. As I recall you are Canadian. This is the problem I hear from my English and Canadian friends, the wait time. The down side of socialized medicine. Hopefully if she needs sooner treatment, she can go to Emergency and be cared for. I will hope and pray that an opening comes her way much sooner.
