Hello,
In the past I have mentioned the annoying all over muscle twitch that I experienced. I had a very long break after starting Savella but it has returned to near constant twitching. It is not painful just irritating! The new symptom that has me worried is muscle cramping. Like a Charlie horse starting. Mostly in my thighs, arms and now my hip. I can feel it building and feel a little panic. It hasn’t become severe but that’s my worry. Does anyone else experience this? If so, how do you deal with this? It’s happening daily and seems to be getting a little stronger… Any info is helpful:)
Blessings, Dyana
Hello Dyana,
I have not experienced muscle twitching, or the muscle cramping you describe. I f this is a new symptom ( even if it's not and is causing you problems), you must go to your doc. I think there is a tendency to put everything down to the Fibro, best to be safe than sorry, Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
Take care, Anne
Thank you Anne. I do tend to blame EVERYTHING on Fibro. I have a Dr. Appointment soon so I will check. It seems maybe the Savella isn’t helping so much anymore:(
Thank you, Dyana
Hi Dyana,
I have muscle twitching all over. I recently went to the doc and she could feel the back of my neck spasming on exam. I also have tight muxcles. I started to feel the tightness after I stopped Lyrica. In fact, a few weeks ago one of my calf muscles snapped/popped. I see my GP Monday, if she tells me anything helpful I will post,
Good Luck, Kim
Hi Dyana. I get them too. Mine are acting up in the left calf and in my back and neck. The one in my back I usually do ignore because, well, I can. The one in the calf can get really bad. I find that if I am dehydrated it crops up regularly. Just a glass of water helps me but other people need magnesium as well.
Meanwhile, I would suggest that you check with your doctor about the cramps. Just to make sure that nothing more is at issue.
Hugs to you
Petunia
Hi Dyana, I also have those symptoms and I am taking Lyrica and Savella right now and neither seems to help. The cramps in calfs happen daily, also back and neck sometimes. Thigh cramps are the worst so far. Can’t wait to find new doc. In new town in sep. Hope I can get some answers.
Hold on and have hope that something can be done. Bless you, donna
Yes! I was diagnosed in December and these twitches was one of my complaints. They are usually not my whole body twitching, but one area at a time that twitch pretty hard. Usually when I sit down to relax in the evening or if I lye down to sleep. I started on cymbalta first, and then shortly after that, lyrica, and they both have seemed to decrease the amount of times that the twitching happens. My muscles are always tight. I need to physically relax them to get any relief. I am seriously considering magnesium supplements. I just need to figure out a dosage.
Hi Dyana
I too have constant L calf twitching and muscle cramps(mostly when I'm sleeping) I've never really been told what they are caused from. I did have back surgery so i assumed it was from the nerve damage. (???) I was advised recently by my GP to take Iron and Vit B. I also wear a brace on my calf if I'm out and about, and that helps control the twitch a bit. I too find the condition as annoying as hell !!! Check with your FP for their advice.

Hello : )
I have experienced a lot of very painful tightning
I can feel the tightning starting in either my legs , hips or arms
(Especially the forearms.) and sometimes my neck. I don’t know if it’s the same thing.
I wrap
heating pads around the areas to try and help the pain.
I have also experienced what feels like a Charlie horse starting in my calfs
Or thighs…I try to rub on it but it doesn’t let up until it’s ready to. I don’t take
sevella , lyrica or cymbalta.i don’t know what this could be.
I hope all the ppl experiencing these things get answers . If you do, please
Let me know. God bless
Hi Dyana,
I am sorry that you are being bothered by cramps and spasms. Yes, they can go along with fibro, very definitely! I have ignored mine for a long time because other things hurt more. But I have learned to be a bit more empathetic to my body and these aches and pains, which means treating the spasms as they occur. The charlie horses in the calfs hurt me the worst but the ones in my back are almost worse because they keep me stuck in one position, fearful of moving and kicking them into high gear.
I have a very low tech solution: a bar of soap! Seriously. A bar of soap. When I start feeling mildly crampy, I gently rub the area with the soap bar and it takes the cramping sensation away! My mother heard about it from some of her older friends. Apparently it's an old folk remedy. I believe it works because there is a pain relief component within the fragrance of the soap (yes, you need to use soap with fragrance.)
If that idea holds no appeal to you, there are over the counter pain patches, called Salon Pas, that help with this type of pain. There are also things like BioFreeze that other people like to use.
Sometimes spasms can come from deficencies in potassium or magnesium. Or simply upping your water intake might help.
Please be sure to check with your doctor as I am no expert and don't want to steer you wrong.
Please get to feeling a bit better soon!
Sympathetically,
Petunia
This is really sad: I can no longer remember answering posts. Sorry for the duplicate resonse.
I know what you are talking about, because I get terrible pain in my legs early in the morning. It happens in my hips, thighs, and calves and feels tight and doesn’t get any better until I get up and take ultram and force myself to move. This mostly happens in the winter, and I use lidocaine patches more often then. They are a prescribed pain patch. I hope this helps.
