Newly Diagnosed

Hi everyone. I am a 36 year old woman living in Las Vegas. I am recently divorced and have 1 son who is 18. Finally got my diagnosis last week. Yesterday my doctor told me she thinks I may have lupus too. I also have ongoing abdominal issues (adhesions, endometriosis, cysts) and am having surgery in a couple weeks for that. I am overwhelmed, in pain, and scared. I had to stop working because of the pain and I just don’t know what the future holds now.
I’m here to connect with people who might understand. I am good at helping others but I am not used to taking care of myself. I guess its time to learn. I am lucky enough to have a very supportive boyfriend and a great best friend to lean on.
Thank you for listening

Hello Allison,
I am 34 and I was just diagnosed in September. After years of suffering and countless of Drs and test. I also a supportive husband and 3 beautiful kids. It’s a great thing to have. We all need a support system. I too had endometriosis and cysts. I had a full hysterectomy 2yrs ago. Best decision I ever made!! After having countless surgeries to remove cysts I had enough. Now I am home bound with my fibro and I have to use a cane to walk. If I do venture out with my family I have to use a wheelchair if it requires to much walking. Like you I wanted to connect with people who would understand.
Your not alone!

Thanks. I have a total hysterectomy also. I was hoping that would be the end of my abdominal issues but it wasn’t. If you don’t mind me asking, hows the gabapentin? Thats the next med my dr is going to try.

First off let me explain my hysterectomy history. I first one took place 12yrs ago and was supposed to be a partial. 2 weeks later I was back on the table having my ovaries removed. The Dr botched my surgery and left a sliver of my ovary in there. I was constantly having problems. I was having surgeries having cysts removed a couple times a year but nobody would touch that ovary. After 10 years of completed and utter horrible pain and surgeries. I found an amazing Dr. He went in and did the surgery with 3 other Dr doctors. The found out that I had regrown my ovaries and uterus. I couldn’t believe it. Never had heard of this happening. But since this surgery I have felt Amazing!! Now about the Gabapentin we are still adjusting to the right dosage but it seems to be helping. Of course it doesn’t take away all the pain but it does take the edge off. It may make you drowsy at first but give it a few days and you will feel better.

Thats pretty incredible. I went through something similar. They removed everything except part of 1 ovary. That didn’t work, the endometriosis came back. So they removed that piece. Six months later, the pain came back. They think I have an ovarian remnant. I thought that was enough to deal with. Now fibro and possibly lupus on top of it…its overwhelming.
I hope they find the right dosage for you. I know it can be a struggle

Greetings - glad you have a supportive bf and bff - having that support system will make a big difference as you learn to cope with all of this. Learning to ask for and accept help will be a good thing too. That's part of self care - letting other people take care of you sometimes. I think we all struggle with that, but it's important. Hang in there - we're listening.

It sounds just like what I went through. I hope they get it figure out for you. I know how hard it is. Plus with everything else on top of it. I’m sure you are very overwhelmed best thing to do is try not to get as stressed as possible. I know that sounds impossible. I’m just saying this cuz it will just make your symptoms worse. I know how hard that is tho. Just take one day at a time. I hope they can get you some meds to help you.
