Newly Here

Hey all! My name is Jen. I’ve been a personal trainer/massage therapist for over 23 yrs., I’ve had several orthopedic issues and had 5 hip surgeries within a year and a half. I never knew that fibro can be cause by trauma to the body. I haven’t felt quite back to myself since my last surgery in November with increasing widespread pain and as of lately extreme exhaustion, with other random strange and super annoying symptoms. I’m having a hard time accepting that this is my new normal. From working out 4-5 days a week to sleeping most days away! Hoping to find some relief! Thankful I found this group!!

Hi I feel so sad for your situation. The first thing to do is to get on a medication that suits you. What works for one does not necessarily work for another. I am on Lyrica at the minute, however I had to go to Boots to enable to get this, as my local chemist admitted they gave out cheaper versions. Also I was advised to rest when you can. I know when you are working it is easily said then done. However, they told me just 15 minutes, at one time, even on good days try to do this. Find out what works for you, like hot water bottles or throws to give you the long deserved comfort you need. Then keep in touch with sites like this, when we understand, as there are so many that don’t. It is a silent illness where to the outside world we look just fine.

thinking of you Karen

Your story sounds quite a bit like mine. I had 7 surgeries on my wrist in 2013-2014 and I haven’t ever been the same either. I go through “seasons” of increased pain in all of my joints and muscles. Somedays, it feels like I climbed a mountain when all I really did was work at my desk all day. I don’t understand it. My primary physician has just recently started treating it like fibromyalgia, but I’m going to a rheumatologist in November to see what they think. All I know is that I’m miserable and people just think that it’s in my head and I should get up and exercise.

I feel your frustration! I feel like I’ve run a marathon every day! So sorry you’re going through this as well!!

Dear John,
Glad to have you here I experience a lot of the same problems that you mentioned in my heart goes out to you it is hard to except this is the new normal, but it sounds to me like something else is going on with your headset might need to be looked into. Have you considered going to a different orthopedic doctor for a consult that just doesn’t seem right I am praying for you I know with exhaustion and the lack of joy seems to be what I can get used to I just recently been diagnosed off so maybe there is hope for both of us every month my doctor has the try something else. I love to work out I’m not up

Part of my issue with my hips was congenital. They tried to do corrective surgeries first and I was left with no cartilage unfortunately. My first hip replacement dislocated and I had to have a second one. My right hip is on tap for replacement in a couple weeks :smirk: Thanks so much for reaching out! Hope you find some relief as well!!
