No Future...Just Pain

This is my 1st time to this site, and my 1st post. I’ve had FM about 5 yrs now. I take Neurontin & Tramadol for my FM. It takes the edge off, but still live in pain daily. Some days I ache all over, and other days it’s electrical like sticking my finger in a socket. Tried Lyrica, but it made me very dizzy. There are days that I want to die. I see only pain in my future. They wouldn’t let a dog suffer daily like I do, they would put it down. Don’t worry, I am a mother and a Christian, and would never put myself down, so I have decided to seek professional therapy for my depression due to living in pain, and join a support group in hopes that hearing I’m not alone may help me live another day in this world of pain that has stolen my joy. I don’t have “quality” of life anymore. I’m not the wife, mother, or career woman I want to be, or once was. I feel sorry for my husband and kids. They don’t deserve this, and neither do I.

I understand what you are going through. Some days are worse than others but it is definetly hard to function like normal alot of the time. I am also a wife and mother and am pregnant with our second child. I know what you mean when you say you just see pain in your future. I go through times like that too where I get depressed and its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel! It is nice to hear about other peoples stories and to know other people are going through the same thing.

My heart aches for you because I know exactly how you feel. I have felt this way for many years. Keep working with your doctor or specialist to switch medications to feel the best that you can, as needed. I still take Tramadol, but I had to increase the Neurontin until I was almost a zombie. I also tried Lyrica for 3-4 years, but the weight gain was horrible and I didn’t want to increase the dose. Now I am trying nortryptaline. I also take Cymbalta and Celebrex. I still have pain and exhaustion with all of these, but I can get through the day without wanting to crawl out of my skin. You do have a future. Rest every chance that you can, and learn to say “no, I cannot take that on right now.” I feel badly for my husband too. Luckily, he is wonderful. If your insurance covers a Pain Clinic, try it. I did and I learned many ways to cope with the pain. I wish you the very best and I will pray for you.
