Hi, Just wondering about others having this issue.
I occasionally have a particular discomfort in an area for weeks and then slowly changes.
For example right now I show pain and bumps (muscle spasms) in my right arm, elbow etc my hand gets swollen and that can keep that way for weeks then all of the sudden the discomfort will start in my hip and leg? and then another part. Is that a normal symptom?
I occasionally feel there's couple of issue and not only Fibro.
What about Vitamin D is this a common denominator? I have low levels of this every time I have blood work?
Fibro can travel anywhere there are nerves and muscles. Sometimes it settles in my neck, sometimes in my mid-back, sometimes in my lower back. Although it isn't always the case, it's worth looking to see if you have been doing something different. If I am on my computer a lot, my head is slightly tilted to read the screen. If I have been reading a lot on my kindle, then my right arm starts to get sore from turning electronic pages.
Pain and bumps may be related to trigger points in the muscles (myofascial pain). I take a muscle relaxant on a regular basis. This is something to talk to your doctor about.
Vitamin D may not be the unifying factor, but it can run low because we are not out in the sunshine - we're usually indoors trying to find somewhere comfy to sit. If you are running low, your doctor should prescribe an amount of supplement. I have a specific amount of calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D to take, but that is because of osteoporosis. It would be good to check your levels of these minerals too, since magnesium is a relaxant. However, don't adjust it without a doctor's guidance, because it affects other internal muscles, too.
Emfs10,
My Pain is everywhere, and I can never figure out what is going to be next. Tonight my left toes are killing me, my lower back and my left knee. Then in general everything else hurts. And to add to it my skin is burning like a major sunburn but no redness or swelling… My hands feel puffy achy and swollen. I think my pains change daily, except for in general I mostly have pain everywhere.
Hang in there.
Joy
I sometimes feel like my pain floats it’s mostly all over but there is always one or two places that are the worst and it floats all over it can be In my neck one day and in my right hip the next.
Hi there emfs. It's nice to have you with us. i would say that fibro jumping from place to place is fairly common, evan after it sitting for weeks, or even months in one spot. The pain can feel like a totally different type of pain too, like a sparkler being set off in the joint vs. a dull throbbing.
I'm sorry that your arm and elbow are acting up. i don't know if the weather changes bother you but if so, it could be that arctic front that's causing your spasms.
Yes, a low level of vitamin D3 is common to many of us with fibro. It almost seems like the receptor for vitamin D3 is damaged in us or unable to accept the D3 being sent to it.
But, as always, PLEASE see your doctor with new issues. I have no medical degree and can only say what sounds similar to my experiences. To be safe, please get your doctor to look you over. You never know. It's truly not ALWAYS fibro, although it surely feels that way!
Tina, I totally agree about fibro pain being worse on one side of the body. Mine is usually worse on the left hand side. I know i did an informal poll on the matter maybe a year or so ago on here and almost everyone else had the same experience! So you have to wonder why that is so. (No answers from the "great brain" here, lol, only crickets chirping.)
Please can you explain the hair hurting thing a bit more. It's always puzzled me. Do you mean the area where the hair meets the scalp? if so, that totally makes sense to me and i have a bit of that too but not bad. If you mean the strands of hair below that point...my, that is very strange!
Hugs,Petunia
PS: I can't type much any more as the right elbow gets tired after a few letters pecked out. Mean elbow! Lol!
PPS: I might start using the abbreviation 'Pet' for my name as it's easier to type and right now that seems to be an issue for me.
I may be wrong but I believe the skin burning sensation is supposedly due to the nerves that fibro is irritating. I don't know if you take anything like Lyrica or not but there are meds out there that might be helpful for that. But again, I'm not a doctor, so please consult with yours if you are concerned about this.
I know what your mean, mencileed, but you're too kind to the pain. Or at least i believe so, as i'd characterize it as HAMMERING all over the body. Maybe even JACKHAMMERING.
Sorry. I just had to add that. Silly of me, so sorry.
Thanks Susan, I am in the computer all the time as well!
I always take a muscle relaxer a anti inflammatory and a pain killer plus gabapentin. The past few months the pain and discomfort has increased. Unfortunately i don't have health insurance at the moment so I have to dealt with what I can.
Hi, I definetly have this issue too. My pain moves all over and concentrates in certain areas. It is very frustrating. Once I get use to hurting in a specific area, it starts to move somewhere else and the emotional aspect of this is very difficult for me. I always feel like something else must be going on - not just the Fibro. I never know what is "normal" for me with Fibro and what is a symptom that needs to get checked out for the possibility of being something else. I get the muscle spasms all the time everywhere and sometimes my fingers and toes move on their own too. I hate it.
Anyhow...Vit D is important. it is one of the first things that my DR checked. You should definetly just start taking Vit D daily. It can help with some of the pain - not all, but some. Good luck!!! Know you are not alone. Thinking of you.
