Pain Management?

ilovemy4kids, My pain started in my right hip and has yet to go away. I have gotten injections there but only little relief. I sure hope you are feeling better, Gentle hugs, Robin

Thanks Tricky, Don't be sorry, I think it was wishful thinking on my part lol. Gentle hugs, Robin

Hi Penelope, I have to agree with you about not wanting anything going in my spine but I'm sure you know when we are in terrible pain I'd do almost anything for a bit of relief. I am so sorry you are in such pain, hope you feel better soon, Gentle hugs, Robin

Hi Annie, I just found out I have bursitis in my hip as well but the shot did not help me. I quit going to PT because I was in more pain when I got home. I just don't get it lol. You can go to the discussion on having fibro and being alone, it's never to late to join a discussion. Congrats on the new home. Gentles hugs comung your way, Robin

Hi Susan, I am sorry it didn't work. I am getting alot of trplies saying the same so I will pass this up. Hope you have a great day. Gentle hugs, Robin

Thanks Brady and welcome to the group. Gentle hugs, Robin

Thanks Sandi, I think I'll stick with my trigger point injections, even if they don't always help. Gentle hugs, Robin

Shirley. That’s a different type of epidural. Where ll the nerves are completely blocked off. It’s the type of epidural they so give when you have a child. These ones are not so intense. I wish they were!

Sorry Nana that the last didn’t help at all. I just got back from the hospital where I had L 4/5, 3/4 and S 1 done. It hurts like hell and will probably for weeks, but it has helped me overall in the past. My nurse was wonderful and we talked about how epidural, cortisone and RFA affects Fibro patients. She said that we all react differently to the shots or RFA because of how our nerve endings react. Some patients get lots of relief, some a little and some not at all. It all depends on the individual. It’s good to know that some doctors know and understand this. Today’s procedure is done using versid as unconscious sedation, but I am awake the whole time. For some reason I have the same reaction I get from all the meds that are supposed to make you sleepy. I’ve been wondering if I take a med that would keep me awake - maybe then I’d fall asleep!
My advice is try something once and see if it works. Even if I get relief from the pain in my back for even a few months - I am thankful.

Hi Robin,

This is the first I've seen this post, looks like you got a great response. I will tell you that this helps most people very much.

The very best advice I can give you is to google "all pain management procedures" and know what is going on before you get in there and get 'the hard sell'.

If you are in that much pain, it is worth a try. I walked in there with absolutely no knowledge of the procedures, before I had a computer, so I strongly advise you to then read on to the procedures that are used after you have reached your maximum amount of injections. Knowledge is power! Hope it is a great success!

Wishing you well,

SK

I got cortisone in my knee yesterday and I think my body had a reaction to it. Not only does it still look like h e l l but last night while I was sleeping I was sweating one minute and freezing the next. It was awful. I had an xray done oblivious my knee today so we should know soon what’s up.

Punkin- sounds like you had a reaction to the cortisone they injected in your knee. I get really flushed in the face and it is hot to the touch and so did my knee. I sweat off and on the next day as well. Make sure you tell your doctor about it.

Hope you are okay today, Punkin. So sorry this has been such an ordeal for you. Nice to see you on the boards, we miss you when you're gone!

Love and hugs, to my friend,

SK
