Okay my chiropractor states that my neck muscles are extremely tight even after massage. I am currently having anywhere from 3 to 6 migraines a week. I am taking imatrex for them as demoral did not work. The chiropractor states I should allow this dr to put these injections in my neck, now my rhum dr has stated they do it as well but it is a chemical injection. Personally I would prefer non chemical to chemical so I want to hear if anyone else has tried these and do they actually work?
hi. i dont know what you mean by picture plant injections. I only know of injections with lidocaine( a numbing agent) and steroids being used. they help some people and not others but i dont know why that is. there does not seem to be any one size fits all with treatments. i guess you have to try to find what works well for you. best of luck. hugs
Thanks, Suzie. I am told this is 100% natural from a picture plant.... might be spelling that wrong but I asked 6 times knowing that the lidocaine and steroids was already something my dr wanted to consider. But I hate putting all these chemicals in my body. I have had a adverse reaction 3 times already and just yesterday was told oh the loratab your dr has you on for pain is not good for Fibro..... well gee we couldn't have caught that 3 months ago?! Now I am like well what can I take for pain that isn't going to give me a week of bad fibro pain every time. The more I learn the more upset I seem to get but I am still just now learning since before I simply trusted the dr
Hi Ranjo,
As far as meds for fibro go, I'm on Lyrica, which specifically addresses SOME fibro pain. I hear that Cymbalta is also used for fibro pain. Others have used gabapentin and amiltriptyline. Some people are on real pain killers like Oxycontin. Nothing works 100 percent, but when you find one that works it does help to dull the pain. I hope your doctor puts you on a good fibro med ASAP.
I agree with Suzie that steroid shots don't help everyone but I think they're worth a try. I know they helped me because my knees kept popping and pulling out of place; the cortisone injections stopped all of that and I've been okay for several months. So again, I think they are worth a try.
As for a picture plant, I've never heard of it either. If I were you, I'd ask for some literature about that procedure so you can read up on it AND then check it out on the web to see how others liked it. When you do find out more about this procedure would you mind sharing the info with us? I know that others would like to hear about alternatives to steroid injections.
hi again ranjo. i was reading the reply by Petunia and i am also in agreement with what she said..
love , hugs and healing prayers
suzie
Ok so I did some research just because now y'all have me all curious if this was a hoax and came up with this via webmd
A pitcher plant extract (Sarapin) is given as a shot. Sarapin is an FDA-approved prescription product. Healthcare providers inject Sarapin for relieving pain in the back, neck, and other locations in the body.
How does it work?
Pitcher plant contains tannins and other chemicals that are thought to help with some digestive tract problems. There is some evidence that suggests that pitcher plant extract may affect nerves involved in pain sensation.
So i am thinking it is only going to help my localized neck tightness and pain. But I see where they also mix this with cortisone some times and other things to aid in it. I am going to ask more questions before I allow the shot. I want to know exactly what is going in my body and why.
