Fibromyalgia is one of those invisible illnesses that unless you have it you just don’t understand what it’s like to live with consist pain and all the other symptoms that go along with it. One of those symptoms is skin sensitivity. It’s called Allodynia, your skin becomes sensitive to the lightest touch.
I wrote to Malia Jones, a swimsuit model and champion surfer who is starting her own swimwear line and informed her that there are 10 million people in the United States that suffer from chronic illnesses and that her ideals for wearing soft clothing that are comfortable and stylish is what we need. I don’t think there is anyone presently designing soft clothes for the millions of people that suffer every day. I asked her to consider my request to design clothes for us or to please give us some advice as to what kind of materials we should look for that are soft on the skin.
I wrote to Malia Jones because I admired her and valued her opinion and because I liked her ideas about soft comfortable clothing that is important to her in her line of swimwear.
I have yet to get any kind of response from her and it is very disappointing that someone who is in a position to be a positive influence and to help those who are less fortunate then herself. Fibromyalgia does not care how old you are or how much money you have. It affects everyone from different walks of life. Not only here in the United States but all over the world.
I don’t think there is enough awareness about Fibromyalgia and how it affects everyone. Please share this post with your friends and family because chances are you know someone with Fibromyalgia or other chronic pain illnesses and the more people that are aware of these illnesses the more we can help each other. And hopefully one day they will find a cure or a treatment that will alleviate some of the more painful symptoms. Thank you.
Somehow facebook change my post into a plea for donations. I didn’t know how to get rid of the donation part so I just went with it and donated money to the chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia assn. So far I haven’t had much of a response but I’m hoping that more people will respond. I’m sure I will never hear from Malia Jones but o-well I tried. Sorry guys!!! Since posting this the other day I deleted it off my facebook page. Just thought you should know.
