I don’t really know . I don’t drink. I take too many drugs .

Well before I was diagnosed I would feel worse the next day. And that was only after one or two beers. Right now my doctor said stay away from all alcoholic beverages Period!
She said not only does it screw you up with all the medications, but she has had patients who tried drinking and it screwed up intestines and caused blood in stool. Not sure why or what the chemical implications of alcohol and the Meds that cause that, but she scared me enough to say forget it.
When I am out socially I usually do cranberry and soda in a mixed drink glass. No one has to know its not booze.

Alcohol DEFINITELY makes my pain a lot worse. No matter if I have one small drink or several. I am miserable very soon afterwards. I try to avoid drinking at all costs. Plus it’s not good to mix much alcohol with most fibromyalgia medications. But everyone is different. My body just reacts very negatively to any alcohol.
I can tolerate one glass of wine or one cocktail if it's with a meal, but anything more than that and I will definitely be worse for a few days. It sucks because I really like the taste of alcoholic drinks but I'm seriously considering going teetotal because the after effects just aren't worth it.
I enjoy a glass of wine, always with a meal, once in a while. But, I do think it might make the pain worse, it's hard to determine, since I might be out with a friend or with my husband, so I limit my drinking alcohol.
I am a recovering alcoholic and my opinion is that it does screw with fibro well it did with me.I was always in really bad pain when i drank alcohol. It screwed with my meds as well.
I also avoid alcohol because of the medication I’m taking. When ever I try to drink I just end up feeling weird and don’t enjoy it. I’ve never been ‘drunk’ since being diagnosed so I don’t have much experience to share! I think we’re all different due to meds and severity of FMS. You just need to try having a cocktail and see how you feel afterward. Good luck… It would be nice to enjoy a drink now and then.
i take so few meds, that i am happy to drink some wine or beer occasionally. it does act as somewhat of an analgesic. however, if my fibro is flaring (which it has been this summer) i avoid alcohol. i am much more sensitive to it's effects with the flare up than at other times. it does nothing to aid the sleeplessness, anxiety, digestive problems and pain of a flare-up.
