After 7-8 yrs, I finally received an official dx on January 9, 2013. Since then, I have started neurontin 3x daily and yoga 3x per week. I am really trying to make positive changes in my life, especially learning how to better manage my stress. I don't have as much relief as I would like, but at least have a few more good days.
For the longest time, I have tried to keep symptoms to myself due to doctor's telling me "there is nothing wrong with you." My question is: How do I approach discussing how fibromyalgia affects my daily life with friends/family?
Thanks for your comments. It is always comforting to know that others understand what I am going through. My husband has been supportive too. Although, we both get disappointed when good days are followed by more bad days. I have told my closest friends and family. They don't understand that I am constantly in pain and utterly exhausted! I suppose it is my job to help educate them by being honest with how I feel, instead of just keeping it to myself. I haven't experienced any issues with gagpentin so far. It doesn't seem to give as much relief as I hoped, but I agree that it helps with migraines! I hope your migraine goes away soon!
I recently read on a FM site members page, that FM is described as a whole body migraine, that made so much sense. When I tell people that they look at me and say "that sucks".
