I had cataract surgery this week and feel like I’m getting my life back. I was very sick in 2008 and my life became very blurry during my illness, transplant and recovery. I had eye surgery in 2009 and could see again for a couple of months. I then had diabetic eye disease and cataracts. nothing could be done about the cataracts until the diabetic eye disease was under control. Since it is now under control (I get pellets injected in my eyes every six months) I had cataract surgery on one eye on Monday and it was successful. Can’t wait until I have both eyes done.
It’s amazing, I can watch Tv again, peoples faces no longer look like blobs, can see my own face in the mirror (many more lines than when I saw it last lol) look out the window and actually see plants and leaves on tree, life is not so dark and I can see colour quite clearly. The bad news is I can see the dust and realize the windows need to be cleaned. I will still need glasses after the next surgery but just for close up sight.
Now I just need the energy to do everything I’d like to do.
I hope you all have something amazing happen to you this year, small or big, that gives you some pleasure.
i am very glad to hear that your surgery was successful. You sound like you have a wonderful, lovely spirit.. that darned dust!!! lol. take care ! sending you loving, healing prayers your way.
That's wonderful news, B2ching! Like a miracle, to have your sight restored. It must be amazing to see everything a if you're new to it all again. Wonderous, in fact. Wonderful too. It must be so amazing to look out of the window and see plants and such, as you mention. Life with cataracts sounded gloomy. I'm glad you've got your "color" back!
I agree, here's hoping for something amazing to happen to each person here this year!
I’m so glad to hear you can see I hope your energy level increases so you can enjoy the things you see around you. So many people, including me take for granted those little things! Thank you for reminding me to find the good and enjoy it.
Right now I’m 6foot in self misery but I will start tomorrow with a fresh start and find something to be thankful for.

You've made it over another big hurdle, my friend! Congrats on the return of your sight! I admire your courage through all of these surgeries, especially the liver transplant, and procedures like injecting pellets in the eyes every 6 months, whew, I can almost feel that!! Bet you a twenty that you have to be awake for it too! You're pretty amazing, you know?
You get a standing ovation from me for your bravery and resilience! So glad this was a success!
As for dust, as my Nan used to say, "you chase the dirt and dust all your life and in the end, when you close your eyes for the final time, they throw it in your face"! Let me tell you, she chased it too, her house was always amazingly clean and organized, and she cooked and baked like no other!
Take good care of yourself, forget about the dust and the windows for now, and celebrate another success!
It must be great to see again! Let us know how it's going, B2ching. I'll bet it's so exciting to see vibrant colors again. And you'll have all of spring to look forward to, so you can see flowers and birds. Very cool!
