Suggestions for Doctors in Central Arkansas?

My doctor is wanting to refer me to a specialist. We’re having some problems though. Originally he suggested a neurologist in Searcy Peggy Brown that has worked with fibromyalgia before, but she told him she is no longer working with fibromyalgia. He called Voina in North Little Rock, but it’ll be October before I can be seen. Anyone know of a good specialist (or primary doctor that can diagnose) in central Arkansas…even the Jonesboro area.

Have you tried Dr James Abraham in little rock? I went there with my mom and he had fibro pamphlets in the rooms. It wouldn't hurt to call.

Debra, I talked to some friends around here that have fibro and they recommended an internal medicine doctor in Searcy. I called to try to get an appointment (the receptionist said they treat fibro and she's pretty sure they diagnose it). I was told I needed to fill out some forms and turn them in, then the doctors will look over them and if they think they can help they'll call me for an appointment (much better than me going to another doctor that isn't going to help). The doctor looked over my forms and within an hour of me faxing them in he told the receptionist to call me back and set me up with an appointment as soon as possible. I go see him on August 18th. I figured I may as well try this since I can't get in with a rheumatologist until October.

Great. I didn't know we had anyone in searcy. Let me know if you like him. I would much rather drive 15 miles than 50. I haven't made an appointment with Dr Abraham yet. Im still waiting for them to give me a referral and right now they are still set on me seeing a neuro Dr. in little rock first. Seems like nothing is simple. What is the internal medicine Drs name?

There are 3 that work together in Searcy Medical Center. They take calls for each other so one is on call 24 hours a day. Their names are S. Clark Fincher, David Johnson, and Reid Thomas. I’ll be seeing Dr. Johnson because he had a sooner opening than the others. I’m keeping my October 7 appointment with Dr. Voinea the rheumatologist in North Little Rock in case Johnson says he can’t diagnose me. I’m hoping I can do everything in Searcy. It’s much closer…and less traffic.

That's a good idea. Thanks for the names. I will check into this for myself. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted
