typically I have had severe pain and fatigue, but every once in a while it switches entirely to insomnia, lack of appetite, confusion, and general flu like symptoms but with better pain management and more energy.
I am not sure what is worse...I miss sleep.
I have lost 10 lbs and have have only banked a few hours sleep each night. I look older.
Hi Lyra! I go through the same thing, and sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason to it! I call it the hyper-exhaustion mode!
Hope your Dr can help you find something that works, I just saw my Rheum and he asked if the Valium was helping with sleep, and it is, but only sometimes, sometimes I go 2-3 days with no sleep, and it's not pretty, so he is switching me to Zanaflex at night. I am ever hopeful!
I understand this, I went through this all at such a young age, I had a total pan hysterectomy at 23, and I was in surgery hours longer than usual because of adhesions and scar tissue. Please take good care of yourself, make sure your ob/gyn is top knotch! Should they want to do a laparoscopy, let them, that way they can take a look at everything. Hope you can beat this now!
Please remind me a day ahead of your upcoming awareness day, so we can bring up your previous post, or you can post it anew and I will feature and broadcast this for you. Human trafficking must be stopped!
I was just thinking this very thing this morning. I'd gone from having knees that wouldn't bend, hurt like hades and an occasional attack that felt like the tendon was on fire. Awful! Well it's better now and I had a terrible pain in the ribs, instead. Felt like someone had put my ribs in a vise and squeezed them tiiiiiight. So I was trying to figure out if it was better to stick with the pain you know and try to work around it or deal with a new pain that seems to hurt more cause your mind isn't used to dealing with it.
Have you been to the doctor to try to get something for your lack of sleep? Sure sounds like the lack of sleep is causing the other symptoms you're feeling or else amplifying them. I use Nortriptyline to help with sleep and it does the trick for me. It seems to me your doc's focus should be on getting you something that will bring you sleep. ASAP.
Could you possibly have another medical condition that's also feeding into your inability to sleep? For instance, being bipolar could affect sleep. Also, I wonder if there's something you might be doing prior to entering into the lack of sleep cycle that's setting it off? Work? A hard chore? A lot of stress?
I honestly don't know why symptoms switch on us. But you're not alone in observing this phenomenon.
I hope you can get to sleep soon. Maybe trying to do it during the day instead of at night might work. Night seems to be a lost cause for falling asleep when you're caught in one of those cycles, and the harder you try to sleep, the worse it gets.
I have seen my Doc and she said it if persists we will do some extra work on it. I have evicted my dogs from my bed and that has helped some. I am now getting a few solid hours of sleep but still waking a lot. I will take this over the laying in bed awake all night long that has been happening.
As for the lack of appetite, I am still having some issues with it. I am eating high protein and high in healthy fat foods. I already eat a super healthy diet so I am just having to push a bit to get myself to eat a healthy amount of food.
Last year I had a hysterectomy, so hopefully i wont have any need for cysts removal but it is still a possibility on my ovaries. I have noticed that the more sleep I have the more I want to eat. They are clearly connected. I have had some changes in my life lately, all good, but the symptoms started a few days before so they are not likely connected.
Good things are happening. I have a new friend who is a great distraction and we have very fun travel planned in May and a few ghost hunting excursions locally planned. I am altering my workout to ensure it is not too late in the day which always messes with sleep cycles.
Hi Lyra, I guess I am somewhat in reverse my insomnia and exhaustion with 5-6 pain with confusion and general flu like symptoms are typical for me, with the severe pain occurring less often Dr gave me sleeping pills but they don’t work until 6 am, and if I take them earlier, I have an hours nap, and wake up and I’m up all night. However I am sort of fortunate can usually sleep all day, still fatigued and don’t accomplish anything though which is depressing. I kEep on trying to break the cycle, by staying awake until the next night but doesn’t work for long.
I hope you find something which will help you sleep, I generally only had 4-5 hours sleep when I worked and it was awful. Hope you’re sleeping now.
