ThanksI

I want to thank everyone that gave me feedback on my new medication (Gabapentin). I think it is helping some. It doesn't last for long or take the pain away completely but enough that I will give it a try and see how it goes. Also, I had seen a discussion on some lotion (Too Old Goats, could it have a more silly name). I thought, why not give it a try. It certainly can not hurt. Although I could do with out the smell (my cat feels the same) I like it. It takes the edge off. Who would have thought a lotion would do any good. So happy I tried it.

He Gaila and welcome! I'm sorry you have to join us but we're a good group of people and will try to help you as much as possible.

You are probably on a beginning dose of Gabapentin and can ask for a higher dose if this doesn't do the trick. I'm not a doctor but I AM an inpatient patient and as such, I've often asked for a higher dose! Also, if you're now on anti-depressants, they can help a bit with pain. And if you need something to help with sleep, like Nortriptyline, it can also help with pain. Again, I'm no doctor so don't have a clue about which drug works okay with which, but I wanted to let you know that there are options available. You can also ask for a different med if Gabapentin doesn't do the trick. I started on it and found it helpful but kept getting a terrible headache from it. My doc put me on its cousin, Lyrica, which helped and didn't cause a headache. So again, different options are available if this doesn't work. But you'd need to ask your doctor about them.

I hope it DOES work for you. There's nothing like having that moment where you realize that the pain is now tolerable. You'll get there!!

Hugs,

Petunia
