There's an App for that

Hello, all!

I hope each of you are well, and having a good day. I am hoping that you can help us Mods out with some information. We are looking to compile a list of free apps for our members. Have you had the opportunity to use any apps to keep track of your pain, symptoms, medical information, medications, or used something to help you with reminders? If you don’t mind sharing, please list the app below. If you can also provide a link to it, that is even better. We will look up your app, find out which platforms it is available for, and categorize it for easy reference. We will use the tips that you provide in our new “Fibro 101” guide that will be making its first appearance next weekend.

Thank you for your contributions from the Grumpiest of Kitties!

I have an iphone5 & I downloaded the Drugs.com app from the App Store. It keeps me on track with taking my meds with reminders that I set for times for all meds, vitamins, etc that I take every day. I really like it and find it easy to use & navigate.

I have an iPhone 5 as well and I use mySymptoms Tracker. It has everything you asked for except for reminders. It is a little clunky for medications but great for tracking symptoms. Even allows you to add a ton of your own specific symptoms. mySymptoms Food & Symptom Tracker by SkyGazer Labs Ltd

I also use my voice memos like crazy. I use it to “diary” my day when I am too tired and it will upload to my computer iTunes. I can also record sessions with my doctors (with their permission of course) and send those recordings to my family so they understand everything. It has helped my father come around and I highly recommend doing that cause of to the fibro fog too.

Oh and there are a lot of podcasts on fibro, autoimmune illnesses, and more for those that like to listen to radio-style discussions of this. No app, just our built in Podcasts.

Great idea btw, thank you Mods! hugs

There are three apps that I have used and like: MyRA, myPain Diary, and My Medical.

MyRA is for people with RA. Since I have PsA, and they are similar, I use it for tracking my joint pain, and my other PsA symptoms. It is super easy to use and very idiot-proof! With it I can also see my symptoms on a graph, keep my med list, and print reports to take to my doc or email to them directly. The down-side is that the drug library is limited so I need to free write in a lot of my meds. It also won’t remember the meds, so I have to keep adding them in. I’m positive that this is a free app.

MyPain Diary is also definitely free. I like this one, but I was already using the MyRA app and My Medical and using this app was sort of redundant. However, I really like it. You can pick your types of pain, and if it isn’t listed add it in. You can rate your pain, enter a trigger, and what made it better, you can set reminders, add photos, and track the weather! You can also graph your symptoms and print or email reports. It is a very comprehensive app, and had I found it before the RA app, I would be using it instead. I rate this a 9/10. I took off a point simply because it doesn’t have a med list.

Finally, MyMedical is a medical history app. It has just about everything you need to keep track of your health history. Meds, surgeries, conditions can all be listed here. You can also keep track of your appointments, and it will pull appointments from your iPad calendar into the app where you can keep notes from your appointments. It has a section for hospital visits, one to keep track of upcoming scheduled tests and screening. You can also keep a copy of advanced directives in the app. You can also print up reports for your docs, which is really handy when you go to a new provider. Again, it is incredibly comprehensive. The only real draw-back that I can think of is that it takes a long time to input all of your info. I think I had to pay for this app too. However, I believe I had tried a number of free general medical apps and just could not find one that met my needs, so I paid for this one. I don’t recall the price, but I’m sure it was less than five dollars. I know wouldn’t pay more than that! I tried to look it up, but I have my iPad set to the UK (gotta download the new season of Downton Abby!). It’s £2.99! I’m not sure what the conversion is. :stuck_out_tongue:

I love the Evernote app! It’s free. If you need to get yourself organized and need reminders, to me, this is simply the best. It’s like an electronic yellow ribbon around your finger!

I've been looking for a diary type of app, thanks for this information.

Thank you all for your contributions! I'll be writing all of these up for our new Fibro101 Guide so that everyone can access them anytime. Thanks again, this is so helpful!
