Some of this months medications.
I recognise a few of those, that I have too, but I didn't know Lyria and Cymbalta were available in this country. Can you tell me a bit about them please as they may be helpul to me too. I will be seeing my doctor tomorrow and he's been quite useless for years so I may be able to try something diferent.
Cymbalta is also called duloxetine and is an antidepressant and also helps to kill pain.
Lyrica is also called pregabalin and was originally developed to help control epileptic seizures. It blocks some signal from travelling along the neural pathways and thus stops some pain signals from travelling.
I hope this helps and good luck at the doctors. Let me know how it goes xx
Ah right. I guess cymbalta is like amytriptiline but prob a lot better and lyrica is a better version of gabapentin then. Thanks Mike. Will see doc as soon as I can. Sorry for being nosey again lol. I just feel like I’m missing out on some decent meds x
You do not need to apologise; there is nothing wrong with curiosity. Cymbalta is a different class of antidepressant. Amitripyline is a tricyclic antidepressant and is one of the first antidepressants developed. Cymbalta is a SNRI; a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Without going into the technicalities they work in very different ways and both can be good for different things. Cymbalta is also better because it is much safer to take with tramadol which a lot of people with fibro take.
Pregabalin is basically a newer version of gabapentin but works a lot better for a lot of people. See it as gabapentins baby brother; it is new so everyone pays it attention but in time they will both receive attention for different things. Fibro is seems responds better to pregabalin so you would be best placed to ask about it because it would probably be of more help than gabapentin. xx
