Recently I have been seeing posts on facebook regarding Tumeric Curcumin helping fibro symptoms. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not it does help?
I have been putting tumeric on most of my foods daily for about 6 months I have to stir it in so i cant taste much of it. I use the powdered spice as the root can stain your hand and clothes. I have gotten used to using it as its supposed to help inflammation. i dont see any real difference, and both of my doctors have told me fibro does not have actual inflammation. i do not know if that is true, but none of my blood tests show inflammation. i surely do have the pain though.
Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. I have been taking tablets
and it does seem to be helping some of the achiness and so in turn that
helps with being able to sleep at night. I have read that there are a lot
of other benefits, so we will see what happens.
It is believed that the inflammation is in the brain and so blood tests are normal. this has not been proven yet, but highly sensitive studies have shown inflammation in the blood, but not like someone with rheumatoid arthritis, for example.
So, hopefully, these new studies will show something that will allow treating the disease a possibility.
I occasionally take tumeric cumerin in pill form (like, when on vacation). I don’t know if it helps or not, but it seems to a little.
Hi, I have been having turmeric teas for the past 6 months and it does appear to reduce the deep bone aches a little. I would advise caution however as I already have low blood pressure and started getting red vision and dizziness upon standing and as soon as I stopped the turmeric this went away. My doc said it can effect people who already have orthostatic hypotension (dizziness on standing). I have now been told to avoid taking turmeric because of this.
Oh! That is good to know, Charto!
I just saw this. I posted about turmeric in my other post.
I think the worse thing about Fibro is others just don’t understand! It’s such a difficult condition to explain to people. They look at you with a blank stare. Even my son doesn’t get it. Even though I’ve had it for 40 years, I still remember how my life was before “fibro”. Wish I could go back to those days.
I know right…It’s like you look so healthy that people think you are just making excuses. I gave up on making people understand.
Tumeric is a very good natural anti inflammatory remedy. But, for it to work properly it needs to be taken with black pepper to activate the “healing properties” - I also add some ginger.
Turmeric with Bio-perine combination is what I use. Bio-perine helps the body absorb the turmeric better.
Thanks for the recommendation.
I am also using Tumeric with Bio-perine. I have been taking it for almost
2 months now. I am not sure that I can tell a difference. How long did you
have to take it before you noticed results?
