I've taken a break from this site for several months, but feel I am ready to return to this supportive, caring and welcoming place : )
The primary issue I've been dealing with lately is stress related to work. Over 3 months ago, a new supervisor was hired. To say the least, she is very intolerable. I am a very independent worker primarily because I am driven, motivated and don't need a lot of direction or guidance. This has also been noted in my bi-annual reviews. Despite the reputation I have built at work, my new supervisor continues to micro-manage, demean and make her insecurities very apparent. She is making life at work difficult with an already challenging job.
Because of the stress at work, I haven't been able to practice adequate self care. The inflammation, pain, depression and anxiety have been at the worst I have ever experienced. I work in a large bureaucratic system and effecting change is next to impossible. I've considered taking FMLA leave but my husband and I cannot afford it financially right now. When chronic pain hits, being grumpy and irritable are common, including less tolerance to deal with day to day occurrences that are stressful.
I would say that some time off would do me some good, but I would just go back into the same situation upon return from leave. Luckily, I have Christmas Eve through 12/28/15 off. I'm looking forward to a break.
In my experience, stress causes the worst Fibro and Arthritis flares for me.
My question is, how do I control the stress when I feel like everything that is causing my stress is out of my control?
Hi Sara, you may have already tried this but I find that meditation and subliminal audio helps me when most other methods don’t There are a lot of these kind of apps on the apple App Store and I am sure also on the google store. Check them out. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I’m so happy to see that you’re back. I wondered what happened to you when I didn’t see anymore posts. I don’t really have any advice but please know that I am thinking of you and hope that you can find some answers that will make things better and more manageable for you. Take care.
