The reason I ask, Kmc, is that with autoimmune arthritis like Psoriatic, or Rheumatory, that are autoimmune diseases, the new biologics like Enbrel and Humira slow down the progression of the damage. They are a highly effective 'drug of the future', that bypass the usual body systems where we have the most side effects, and can pinpoint where they are needed, right down to the last cell.
They are even investigating this avenue for Osteo arthritis, though it is not decided or concluded at this moment in time.
I know about those nerves being killed, I have that from lumbar central canal stenosis, DDD and Degenerative Facet Disease.
The Enbrel has REALLY helped me! Something to ask about, and continue to ask about, because they will need to know this too!
It's nice hearing from you and thank you for your service in the military. I'm sorry that fibro's messed it up for you. But you've received excellent suggestions thus far.
And if you have access to an SSDI attorney, I would recommend using one. They make the paperwork angle so much easier for you and know how to put your medical conditions for the SSDI people.
I got the nerve burning procedure too. Mine lasted about 8 months. Just so you know. I got used to the pain in my back again after the 8 months, not dreaming that it was because the nerves had grown back already! And yeah, I had the arthritis too and the fibro was amplifying the pain. I'm so glad you mentioned this so I know it's not in my head.
I hope you get your case underway soon, so you can not stress about paying bills. SK and others have given you so many good pointers that you will be in much better shape for applying for your SSDI.
Wow, SK, so it's possible that Enbrel or Humira MIGHT be used for Osteo arthritis? Well, I surely wish they'd hurry up and decide!
And I'm sorry, KMC, I misunderstood you in my post, thought you had the nerve killing done in a doctor's office - more accurately a nerve burning. Sorry!
Thanks Petunia...Yeah, I'm hoping that I will be able to lose weight so there isn't so much stress on the joints. I'm pretty sure that's a factor as well...I put on like 20 lbs when I got sick and then ended up with fibro/spine issues after that.
Yeah I'm a little nervous about vitamins...I've been taking a crap ton and haven't noticed any kind of difference. Still, it's worth a shot, if it's not too expensive.
I have some bulging joints and basically my entire spine is wearing down. Moderate damage in my lumbar and mild damage in my neck. None of it is bad enough to operate, just enough so that it hurts and fibro makes it worse. I will look though...I wouldn't be shocked by anything now.
