Uuuurrrrrggggghhhhhh

Please help!!! I was diagnosed in August 2012 so i am still a bit wet behind the ears. I am taking savella and lyrica and sxelaxin. Promethazine for nausea and tramadol when im not working. I have noticed sometimes that my body tingles after taking lyrica but lately it has gotten significantly worse. And last night at work it became unbearable and still is. Mostly in my back and shoulders but also in my arms, hands, and legs. Its so bad that i wish i could just dig under my skin with a knife to make it stop!!! Is it the fibro or the meds??? I cant take it…it is literally driving me crazy!!!

Hi, Tamika!

This sounds like an allergic reaction to Lyrica to me. I checked a website for Lyrica and it said, "you should contact your medical professional immediately if you are experiencing allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue."

I have been taking Lyrica since December when I found out I have fibro. So, I am also very new to this as well. I would definitely go see my doctor or call a nurse at your clinic to find out why you are feeling this way. I, personally, have not had this side effect from taking Lyrica.

I wish you all the best! (hugs)

Hi Tamika,

Lyrica apparently has a lot of side effects, something that I wasn't aware of. Many of them mimic fibro side effects, which is interesting, since some of us might think we're suffering fibro side effects and it could be our meds!

I found the following side effects for Lyrica:

  • burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings

  • burning, tingling, numbness or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs

I would say that if it's unbearable that you contact your doc ASAP and let him know this is going on.

If you want to see the full monty of side effects for Lyrica, here they are:

I hope you can get this cleared up and feel better soon!

Concerned,

Petunia

I do feel like it may be an allergic reaction. But the side effects say nothing about tingling in the back and shoulders.

Maybe it's a combo of the Lyrica and your fibro, Tamika. I'm not sure. But I would ask your doctor, as it sounds pretty bad.

Thanks
