Wanting to give up hope on getting better

its ok no worries. i do think the dizzyness had to do with the flu. i laid back down and slept for a few hours when i woke up i wsnt dizzy. but i am not over it yet either.

Dear Steph,

Hope and action are your best assets when tackling something of this magnitude and complexity. You cannot give up hope and you have to actively keep seeking medical care and solutions.

I know you are hurting, I know you are worried, exhausted, but you have to just drag yourself, and keep dragging yourself.

We are with you, get well,

SK

thanks i am trying to b positive. i know the first thing i need is to get over this flu cause it is causing havoc on my body. i am not sleeping as well as i would like due to it. my stomach is keeping me up. i am hoping that once i get over it i can try to get the help i need to get the other things fixed i need too. the only good part about having it is that my parents will not b on my case about me sleeping. so when my body does decide to let me get a good rest in i will not have to b worried about being woke up.

thanks for checking up on me and encouraging me.

something about being on the laptop is making my symptoms worse. i will do my best to continue to update u on what is happening. until this nasty flu bug hits the road i will probably not b on much. i read all updates on my phone without having to log on so i will b able to keep up on replies. i will get on as much as my body will allow. for some reason being on the laptop is making the neausa worse and makes me dizzy. not sure why but i am sure that after this flu passes so will the symptoms of neausa and dizzyness when being on.

i have no idea of course of how long i will b sick with the flu. i had it back in november and it lasted for 6 days. i think i will go crazy if it last that long again. as soon as i get better i will find a way to get to a teaching hospital to get my other health problems looked at and hopefully fixed. wish me luck.

thanks

stephanie

this flu bug is really taking a toll on me. i had no idea u could feel this bad. i have stopped throwing up and the runs have slowed down but the fever will not break. the neausa will not leave no matter what. the stomach cramps keep waking me up after only a few hours of sleep and then i cant get back to sleep. i cant wait for this to all b over. i wish i had better news to share but thats it for right now.

I’m so sorry your going through a hard time, sometimes I feel like my husband and kids are ganging up on me when I have trouble with my speech they don’t understand the more angry and upset they make you the more crap you feel.
I pray things will get better for you, if you have a specialist that you see regularly maybe have a chat to her or him about all this and she might talk to your parents for you, not sure how it works in America I’m from Australia and I go see my rheumatologist every 3to 4 months.
Kind regards Melissa

Hey Mel,

Good to hear from you! Hope things are on the upswing for you, girl!

I know, it's tough to get 'ganged up on', sometimes I can laugh it off, laugh along, and sometimes it just hurts.

Wishing you WELL,

SK

Okay, I will do that. Also, since I'm older than you, maybe she'll take the disease more seriously? Let's give it a try. When you have a chance, send me your address and how to address her. Should I e-mail it or regular mail it? Also, I don't want to ambush her - receiving a strange letter from a stranger might make her more suspicious? Maybe you or I should let her know to expect it? Let me know your thoughts on the matter. I want to try and help make things better, not worse.

Flu is better than the food poisoning you though you had, since you'd have to have gone to the hospital. So I'm sorry for the flu but glad it isn't food poisoning.

Hope you're feeling better today!

Are you SURE you have the flu and not something else? I'm concerned that you've had the fever for several days. Is it a high fever? Do you think you should go back to the doctor/hospital? It really DOES sound like food poisoning!

Who dxed the it as the flu?

I agree with Petunia, sounds like food poisoning. Had it in January and wanted to die I felt so terrible. It can be dangerous, and having a fever and all your other symptoms sounds just awful. I would take you to the hospital if I were there. I really really hope you begin feeling better. So very worried about you! I hope you can get to a hospital and get checked out.

the dr at the er said it was the flu. my fever has not been too high its been around 100.5 but its feels higher. i did have blood work done. i am not sure if thats why the dr said it was the flu vs food poisoning. i am not sure if i need to go back or not i have been having alot of pain.

Well u know me, I always get upset hearing about the way the ERs are operating in your area, not helping u much and leaving u in pain. Did the docs give IV fluids bc that always makes u feel better after becoming dehydrated.

thank you i know if u went with me u would give them a piece of your mind and make sure i got the treatment i need. i know others would too. i did get iv fluids but that was in the wee morning hours of tuesday. i have been doing my best to keep hydrated.

i am going to see if i can get to a teaching hospital this weekend. i am having alot of chest pain as i sit and type this the pain is so bad its bring tears to my eyes. on top of that i have been having a terriable migraine that wont let up. also i am having really bad adominal and pelivic pains. all this on top of the flu r making it very hard to sleep. i think not sleeping is just making things worse. it seems like the last few days all i have done is toss and turn then finally fall asleep and then awake again within hours. i feel like i am going to lose it if i havent begone to already.

part of me is wondering if the chest pain could now b a fibro issuse rather than pluerisy but i am not sure. i have never had my fibro cause this type of pain. its like a stabbing pain in my chest. i know something is going on possiable several infections at once. i just dont see how fibro could cause all these pains at the same time.

well i am going to try to sleep again. i will let u know how things go. i need to contact the hospital b 4 i go because i want to b able to take the train. i also want to make sure i will get seen. so i want to call b 4 heading out there.

I'm sorry you're suffering so much with new pains and problems. It seems you have an underlying need for decent pain medication without adding all the other problems / illnesses on top. Do you have good pain killers Steph? For the day time and the night. They can be the same or different.

Also, what do you have to help you sleep? My guess is nothing, so you really need to kick your doctor up the a** sweetie, because you should not be suffering like this. They should at least give you something to take the edge off things.

I have amitryptiline at night, which I take 2 hours beore I would like to go to sleep. They help sedate you and therefore eliminates anxiety / chest pain etc, and it helps with other pain too. They last for 12 hours so it works for you all night.

Sleeping pills alone don't help. They will get you off to sleep but you wake up in pain two hours later. Tranquilisers help the pain / anxiety but don't get you off to sleep. So we all need medication to help with ALL the problems, not just one. But try telling my doctors...

Anyway, I think if you can solve all these things you will not get so run down, but thats the job of your doctors/specialists. I think your problem is anxiety with the chest pain and its a new fibro symptom that will probably saddly stay with you for a while. I get it all the time and its really distressing, then it gets worse the more you worry about it. Pain in the freaking wotsit!!!

I just wish I could come over and help you by beating the medication out of your doctors which will help you get your life back into a better routine and sort out your immune system. It's so hard for you to deal with everything when you are so ill.

Please please please keep on at your doctors until they help you get a better quality of life. I really worry about you.

xx

i have no pain killers except otc ones and i take more than the recommended dosage just to try to get a little relief. i also have nothing to help me sleep. i have been hearing alot about amitryptiline i was on it years ago for help with my migraines. the only thing i remember is that my family and friends said i wasnt myself while on it. right now i dont really care what anyone says if i can take it again and it helps then they will just have deal with a different me. i think it also helps with migraines too so it sounds like this would b a real winner for me.

thanks for your help and concern

Amiltryptiline is great for putting you to sleep!

I cant believe you're still going thru this! Were you able to get to the teaching hosp? I just can't get over that you're still battling this, Eeyore!

Eeyore,

Yes amitryptiline are really good at night. Maybe you were taking them in the day time for migraine? That's prob why. It does sedate you.

You really, really, really need some proper prescription medication sweetie. Is there anything I can do to help? I feel awful knowing that you are suffering so much.

Worried hugs

Dear readers, please spare yourselves the trouble of going to this video. This doctor is associated with a website that promises all sorts of miraculuous instant "cures" for fibro - cures that are competely unsubstantiated by the medical community. Not only that but since the FDA does not oversee supplements, you have no idea whatever what you are injesting or if it will cause major flares or worse.

Unfortunately, another link shared by this poster leads to a fibromyalgia "clinic" called Envitra. The clinic has been warned of dangerous and illegal practices by the FDA.

I will be bringing these links to the moderators' attention as the claims are completely without merit and could cause you potential harm.

Unfortunately, we get spammed from time to time by seemingly nice, helpful, caring people who then try to redirect us to unproven and potentially unsafe sites because they know we are desparate for a cure. Please please please be wary of anyone on here who claims to have miracle cures (Dr. Murphree) or expenisive clinics that cure everything from cancer to autism to fibro...at a huge chunk of change. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
