What is your best tip for managing/coping with fibro?

Hello :) I am new here. I am looking for people that are actively trying to manage their fibro and other ailments through a more natural means. I was diagnosed in 2005, and it started me on a journey I never even thought possible. To look at me, I am very healthy looking. And I try very hard to maintain a positive attitude. To me, that is essential. I have also learned that if I can't change it, then I either need to get rid of it or embrace it. Fighting it does no good. Hating it does no good. It only leaves you feeling angry and negative. Positive and content is much better, and I believe it is attainable.

That is one of my best tips....natural and positive :)

Please give me yours *hugs*

(((((Huggs))))) Welcome to the group. I agree we all need to embrace that which we cannot control. While we all have different levels of pain and various other conditions that are accompanying the Fibro. and very different ways of treatment. We are all here to support each other in our journey. feel free to write a blog if you have things on your mind and just need to unload. It is a great stress reliever. Join in on discussions of interest. Most of all know that some great friendships are made when we reach out to others.

HUGGS, Belinda

Hugs and welcome! I agree that a positive attitude is essential. It took me a few years to realize that but once I did it was better. I use meditation, deep breathing, calming music, and Epsom salt. I just started taking Gabapentin for neuropathy and I have a muscle relaxes glycerol but haven't found it helpful for me. I also take some vitamins and am going to try physical therapy. Welcome to the group!

HUGS x 100000000!!! I also try to maintain a positive outlook and really related to what you wrote. I do takes meds to help with pain, but the choice is to suffer and disengage or to reduce some of the pain and live life. I use meditation, positive affirmations, and plenty of positive distractions. If I can keep my mind busy I find the pain is not quite so bad. Some of my favourite distractions are: reading, listening to music, watching tv/ movies, especially comedies. If I can laugh I feel better. I also use this site for healing, because there are so many wonderful people who understand fibro and it’s related issues and are supportive and I feel good inside when I can be supportive for others. More hugs to you and keep asking for them, apparently I have an unlimited supply, LOL.

Thank you for the hugs! (((((HUGS))))) back to everyone! :) The reason I don't seek rx meds is the side effects. I am currently able to manage my pain with supplements. I will say that Vitamin B12 is my lifesaver. Before I discovered it, my joints hurt so bad I could barely move. I had so little energy I could barely get through the day. I would come home from work and sit - wanted to get up, but couldn't. So, right now I am taking 2,000mcg B12 daily and my energy is much better. Not 100%, but it lets me get through my day with minor interruption and I can stay off the pain meds. The other things I take are Claretin, Vitamin D3 and a supplement called Inflamma-less. These are all (with the exception of Claretin) vegan and/or organic, gluten-free. Those are the meds I take. I have had to go gluten-free, because now I can't handle wheat. Oh boy. I credit the fact that I have been going this way for a long time, so the diet change is not as daunting for me as it would be for someone else. I would be happy to share any of my knowledge and experience to help anyone here have a better day and less pain.
