Worried about road trip

I am a little worried about a road trip we are taking, leaving tomorrow, for two weeks. A friend is visiting his sister in Connecticut and asked if we'd like to go. My husband said yes without asking me. Of course I'd would like to go but I'm worried. I've gone online and read everything I would find on traveling with Fibro and the post here on page 10. I picked up some patches also, thank you Purplebutterfly. My husband says I'm being negative and will make myself sick. This is the man that thinks Fibro is temporary," just take the meds".

I'd like to know if anyone has taken a long car trip and what to expect. I'm so glad you are there for me to talk to. I'm so sick of pain and my husband right now.

I drove myself and my kids from california to ohio last summer my advice is, listen to your body, try not to over do it, if you dont have kids try to see if you cant stretch out in the backseat for the trip but even if you cant stretch out, bring soothing music, even if you dont like this kind i strongly suggest this one time you use meditation music like tibetan bowls or balancing binaural beats even guided meditation works (which help the brain block out pain and reset your threshold) I use it to sleep and it works miracles and it works best headphones to tune him and the trip out. If you can try to sleep as best you can, bring your meds and a few extra days worth just incase your trip is delayed for any reason, when you guys pull over try to move around when you can, try to bring some healthy snacks and water with you, or youll feel sick eating street food if your body isnt used to getting that often, bring yourself shades if your house is dimly lit for yourself during the day to avoid migraines and the fog ... cant think of anything else for now hugs

Your welcome Stop and walk around often take a pillow to rest on and some thing good to read.

Last long road trip was last August from Ohio to Florida. We have always loved the drive. This time was pretty hard on me and I told my husband when we got back to Ohio that I think that was the last of that drive for me. I started up with sciatica pain almost immediately upon arriving home. It took many chiropractic visits and a few months before I started to feel back to my "normal" self - such as THAT is! Definitely use the good advice you were given with the other replies, water, snacks, getting out every couple of hours and moving around. It helps your body, sure, but it also improves your state of mind. Good luck!

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions. I made a list and made sure I had everything. We drove all day from south Texas( Rio Grande Valley) to Granada Mississippi where we are spending the night. Our friends have children so we stopped every 3 to 4 hours. I did alot of stretching, took Tramadol every 4 hours , am wearing loose workout cloths and have warm socks and blanket. My husband likes the air con cold so I sit in the back of the suburban where it's nice and warm. So far I am only achy but no flares. Tomorrow we drive to Graceland then to Ohio., then New York. I think it's the frequent stopping and stretching that has helped me. We'll see what tomorrow bring. Hugs to all.

WOW Thats a lot of time in the car. I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip. I usually do pretty good till I get home then have more problems.
