So, this past week has seriously kicked my butt! Physical therapy isn't going so great. They changed me from traction on my back to my stomach on the second visit and that caused a flare up in my right side now. So Friday, I asked to be put back onto my back... I had to cancel today because I am in so much pain.. Has anyone else had to deal with PT and it cause more damage than good? I just don't know if this is gonna be a good thing or not. By the time I leave I am in tears and can barely walk.
Talk with your therapy team they can change your plan of care make sure they no all your medical problems. I got lucky my physical therapy is at the hospital I work at so they knew my history from us being friends. We came up with things I can do at home.
Hi Clarah, I would make sure your Physical therapist understands Fibro, I can’t really say if it causes more damage than good, because the only PT I have ever tried was warm pool Therepy & that was very helpful.
I would say before you give up, talk to them… My experience with exercise is that I had to start out 5 min on a recumbent bike 2-3 x a day with no resistance … After 2 weeks I moved up to 7 min 2x day, I gradually added resistance & about one min a week . When I missed a week I had to start over. So if they don’t understand fibro… I would be cautious, there are studies that show if you continue it gets better, but I think it has to be at a snail pace. This is just my opinion … If it hurts more, it’s to much !!
Hugs & blessings
