Years ago before I was diagnosed with FMS I went a Yeast Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free Diet because my Dr thought I might have a yeast issue. I just can't get myself talked into going back on this diet it was so hard to stick with.
Please let me know what eating habits you have changed and what kind of affect it had on your Pain etc!!!
I started my diet journey close to 20 years ago. I started with something simple...or so I thought. My simple thing was to stop putting artificial sweeteners, low-calorie items and fat-free items into my body. They are full of chemicals and preservatives, etc. My goal was to only use "real food" as I knew it then. I thought that was the simple fix. It helped, and I lost a little weight. Then it progressed from there, to where I am now, which is gluten-free. I can tolerate some dairy, mostly cheese (white cheeses work better...parmesan, asiago, etc), sour cream and mayonnaise (Hellman's is gf). I am still learning that just because it says gf does NOT mean it's good for you :P
Anyway, trying to change everything in your diet will simply set you up for failure, imo. I feel that starting by choosing the one change you can make that will have the most impact will serve you much better and you will stand a much better chance of it being a permanent change.
As for the effect on my pain, going gluten-free has made a large difference in my pain. My bloat is going away, but I'm not losing weight. I'm still in the same clothes, but they fit much better. And I look like I have lost a lot of weight. But it's only really about 10 pounds. I still have energy issues, but with the warmer weather, my energy tends to improve.
I hope this helps, and wish you luck. Just remember, small steps...
More thing I want to add is steam or cook your veggies before you eat them it’s easier for your stomach to digest I steam mine and cool them and blend them and you keep all the pulp because it blends all right up easy and fast in normal Walmart $6.99 blender I have some blended with fresh fruit in the am and 1 at pm pineapple and mango make everything taste good when I do greens I boil even the stems beets and stems everything I also boil a apple with it too just wanted to add its really not bad and beats buying expensive vitamin and juicers especially when raw hurts my tummy a Chinese accurpuncturist told me to always cook my veggies because of my stomachs stress upsets nice way of saying irritable bowels lol
I started small I bought fresh fruit and took with me to work instead of hitting the snack machinge. I replaced one soda with water. It is hard to change your diet starting small can help you achive your goal.
I find that by limiting my intake of foods with gluten, dairy & sugar along with eliminating processed foods highly decreases my pain & just makes me feel a lot better. It isn’t always easy but I find the trade off is worth it for me.
