Hi everyone i just wanted to know if you can claim disability allowance
I will do that then thankyou xx
You can certainly apply. It's not assured that you'll get it. It's a lengthy progress and you might need to appeal several times. Get a good lawyer and they'll help you so much with all of the paperwork and collecting of medical info. It's worth it, although you do have to pay 25% of your back earnings awarded, up to $6,000. Again, it's worth it. They know the ins and outs of the system.
thankyou for your help xx
It took me 5 years, but I was finally granted disability. During the time they were fighting my application I spent my life savings on MRI 's, medication and general medical care. I'm now about to be homeless because trying to live on disability is not an easy task. Neither will living in my car, which at least is paid off.
But hang in there and stand your ground against them. Even thought it's a Federal program, it's easier to get disability in some states then it is in others because each state pays into the program as well. Good luck to you.
I didn't go through the appeal process. When I was denied, I just kind of gave up on it. All they did was send me to some horrible shrink who didn't actually ask me anything about what was wrong with me. He told them that I am able to do "simple" work. They denied me on the basis that I am "able to do simple work." 2 years later and I am still not working. My husband is supporting us, but before I had to stop working, I was the bread winner. Finances are very tough and all I want is to be able to go back to working..... But I can't.... I've tried and it has never lasted more than a few days to a week.
you need to keep trying boratsmom. as i said it took me 5 years and they sent me to dr.s and shrinks too who of course said whatever SS wanted them to say. They said I could do sedentary work. ? like a security guard looking at video monitors - yup and there are ssssoooo many of those jobs out there ! Don't give up !
