Do any of you, since the Fibro, have tremors of the hands or anywhere else?

Hi Everyone - About 7 years ago, I started getting tremors in both hands. I was frightened because I thought it might be Parkinsons Disease. My Mother's Mom developed parkinsons and passed away from it many years go. I went to see a neurologist about it He first took a brain scan - and said I had the healthiest brain he has ever seen! I think he as just letting me know that everything would be okay. After seeing him for a while, he determined that I had 'Essential Tremors'. Ir is nothing life-threateting.
He knows I had Fibro and was under a lot of stress due to the problems I was having with it. Well, since then I always will have essential tremor. It can occur when I have pain or flare - ups. But it kind occur when I am just relaxing,. I don't get nervous when I have pain, because I have been so used it, unfortunately. The tremors can just occur out of the blue. Here''s the humorous side of this. Sometimes when I am out with friends and having lunch or dinner, if my hands start to tremble, I actually 'sit' on my hands - so no one will notice! (Smile) If I am watching tv - somtetimes the hands will tremble. The doctor told me he didn't think it was Fbro related. But he does think because of the stress I have, plus not sleeping well every single night, my body is telling me I am completely worn out. I guess I have to agree with him on this. Jeez!! What ELSE do we have to contend with, with all we have been dealing with!!! I am quite sure (I am not being negative here, just realistic) that more stuff will come up for all of us in the future. (Sigh). Just thought I would share this with you all! Love and hugs, Laurie

Laurie,

I looked it up for you and found a discussion about hand tremors and fibro with a lot of activity on it. Here's the link:

I think there is more about the subject on the net and it looks like it could be a fibro symptom.

OMG this has happened to me and I thought I was the only one!! It’s hasn’t happened since but it happened when my sister got married. I was the matron of honor and I was standing there thinking about the million and one things I had to do and my hands started shaking. It’d never happened to me before and it scared the bejesus out of me!! I didn’t tell anyone at all because I didn’t want to freak anybody out. I was definitely stressed out and overwhelmed at the time. It felt like I was having a whole body tremor but I could really see it in my hands. I hope it stops happening for you Laurie because I know it’s scary!!!

HI Pet - what a great article about the tremors! I first actually got them when I was in my early 40s. It's really strange to see a part of your body get out of control like that. Oh Jeez! What ELSE can I look forward too???? Never a dull moment with Fibro! The article that you asked me to read, mentioned a woman who said she can feel them coming on.. I can too - every time. I get a tickling sensation in both arms before the tremors start. Love, Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Pet brought up a good site for you, but be sure to mention this asap to your Dr. This could be med related too. I did very well on Savella for months and then started to shake uncontrollably, stopped the Savella, no more trembling. Some people do well on it though, I was not one.

It is very scary, so make sure you have an appointment in the very near future!

HI Sk - About 8 months ago, my nurse put me on Savella. which I was excited about. However the very first pill I took, I broke out in really angry hives all over my body. I was truly disappointed that I couldn't stay on it, because I have heard that some people do really well. So, that was the end of my episode with Savella! I see my doctor and nurse next week and I will talk to them about it. Laurie

Hi Laurie, yes I was diagnosed as having what they call Essential Tremor. The worst for me is my head goes back in forth constantly, I call it the no no shake, I also have tremors in my hands. Tremors is yet another symptom of fibromyalgia. Some get it and some don’t. My neurologist who specializes in movement disorders said it will only get worse. Their are 4 or 5 medications for it but only one I can take. They do give Botox injections in the neck for this but unfortunately it is very difficult to get insurance to pay for it. I think the worst for me is that my neck hurts all the time. I have gone to my bank and they have set me up with a stamp for my signature on checks for it is very difficult for me. Especially when I am in the groc. Store with someone behind me who is impatient. Leanne

HI Leanne - you are not alone as far as your head shaking. It started with me about 2 years ago. It''s not constant, but it is kind of annoying, don't you think? My tremors for a while were in my left hand. Then as time went on, the right hand became affected, then followed with the wonderful head movements! LOL I sympathize with you about your neck hurting. The neck is one of the trigger points. When my neck flares ups, I can feel the trigger point, and it's very sensitive to touch. I also swell up in that area as well. I can't drive sometimes because I can't turn my head left or right to see what's behind me. I used to have beautiful penmanship, but now??? Horrible writing. You can barely read my signature at the bottom. When I want to send a letter, I have to type it out and I know this should be a personal letter written by me, but I can't do it anymore. Hugs!!Laurie
