Dry heat sauna - does it really help?

When I am in hotter countries my pain is less and I use heat a lot to manage my pain. I have seen a new type of sauna, dry heat instead of steam which is taggeted at us and arthritis sufferers. I am thinking of buying one has anyone already bought one?? Reviews …

Hi Leanne,

As a fellow arthritic, it makes sense to me too! I have not really heard of them, I know that the Y has one and you can adjust the temp and choose water or not, it could be a wet sauna, I have felt a little 'scorched' there a few times. It would take reading the manual and trying different settings, to find your comfort zone.

I have been to an acupuncturist who turned one of his closets in his home into a sauna, and if he gets sick, he goes in and sweats it out, swears by it! Not sure if it is dry or not.

Good luck, hope you find some relief, please keep us posted!

Love and hugs,

SK

It must because my internist keeps asking me if there's anyway I can move to Arizona. (dry heat there). I live in Canada, so no. Charlie :)

Hope you find something to suit your needs. And PLEASE let us know if you get it and it helps your fibro.

Hi Leanne - I always use a moist heating pad on areas where I hurt, but have never tried the dry heat. During the spring and summer, I stiff suffer pain, but it is reduced considerably because of the warn weather. Being I live in Nevada, I get the wet/cold weather that just seeps through, no matter how much I bundle up. I have to work 'around' the Fibro at times and one of these times is when it is extremely cold out and snowing. I just have to stay in, because if I don't I always seem to risk a bad flare-up. I think it might be a good idea to look into the dry heat possibility. It certainly can't hurt to do so. Please let me know if you decide to do it. I am curious to see how it works out for you! Laurie
