Elbow pain

Hi SK, yes had x-rays and saw a specialist but they found nothing unusual. No signs of arthritis, although I just tell people now that I have arthritis when I'm in pain as they seem to be able to accept that easier than fibro. Hopefully one day people will be as familiar with fibro. :)

Hope you are well today.

How have you managed for the past 10 years with limited arm function? Do you work? It has only been a yr for me but since I have pain in the arms every day, I find it extremely frustrating. I am no longer working (although I want to) and on a good day I am limited on what I can do, functionally. If I try to do too much, I find myself regretting it for the next day or two. Any suggestions on how you have managed so long would be much appreciated! Thx.

Hi Leslie,

I do work part time on a dairy farm which is hard as it is painful for me but I only work 2 hours morning and afternoon. The time between milkings I use to recover! I am a painfully stubborn person and try not to let the pain slow me down, but sometimes is just gets to much for me and I have to stop. I look forward so much to the day when I pay my loan off so that I can go on disability. At the moment I have my daughter (16) who loves my credit card so I try really hard not to show too much of what I'm feeling. My hands shake terribly and my arms feel so weak by the time I finish work and all I want to do is crawl into bed but somehow I manage to get through the day. Stubborn? or stupid?

I feel for you and know what you're going through. We are made tougher than we give ourselves credit for I think.

Hope you have a pain free day.

Robyn

That left elbow is still swollen and sore, joint sore! Guess this wil be the next x-ray! Oh boy!

Sorry you are having problems with your elbow...I feel your pain. Hope you get some relief soon.

Hugs!

Hi Robyn,

Thanks for your message...it is good to hear how others are dealing with life with pain. I was also considering working part time. I am starting by trying to push myself to do more around the house each day to see what I can truly tolerate and what is too much. I can push through the pain (to a point) and like you, I tend to be stubborn and want to do more than my body is able...((I like stubborn rather than stupid...but probably a little of both). I have always been a very busy person and with two teenage daughters, there is not alot of downtime here. I guess i will take it one day at a time in hopes that the right part time job comes along that I can do. It has been a year since this all started for me and I am definitely doing more now than just 3 months ago (out of frustration)....but maybe that is good...gets me motivated to try harder! Thank!

Hope you have a pain free day too!

Leslie

Leslie, I know I responded earlier to this post, however I just had to add that with our change in temp this weekend my elbows are so much worse, if I keep me arm bent for more than five min, as I did carrying an armful of small items at the grocery store, wow I had so much pain trying to straighten my arm out to put things down for the cashier, she even commented, if it’s not arthritis & it’s not tennis elbow what the heck is causing so much pain? If the Mayo clinic is accurate ( that our brain processed pain differently) why is the pain in my elbows ? Honestly I think they just have no idea, but it is a trigger spot.

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain but I totally understand. I rarely go food shopping by myself anymore simple because I can't lift anything or carry the bags without pain. My doctor also says it is not arthritis and not tennis elbow (since it is the same in both elbows). I am constantly looking up on the web other possible options but not much else makes sense. I have thought about peripheral (sp?) neuro issue but not sure based on what I have read. will ask my primary dr. at my next appointment.

Gentle Hugs!

Leslie

Been in the 40's here today with rain and my entire body is killing me, including both elbows, so now I believe the arthritis has hit every single joint in my body!

SK, my sympathy to you. It's bad enuff to have bad arthritis in one joint, let alone in all of them. And it's possible that it has, indeed, hit every joint in your body. Rain and cooler weather are horrid for arthritis. I hope you've got your heating pad on. I wish I had a better solution for you!

It feels like it's gonna be a looooooong winter with the aches and PAINS starting so soon this year.

I wish you a pain-reduced night, along with a sound sleep, my friend.

its so neat that i found this. just this week i started having severe elbow pain. it seems to start in my sleep and has gotten so bad that it has actually woke me. i did recently open the window a crack in my room so that it would be cooler to sleep. our temps have been in the 40's at night. i cant sleep when i am hot. i have no idea if the cooler weather has brought on the pain or not.

i hope that u have found a way to get relief. i havent yet but i am working on it. i didnt think to use ice i will have to try.

wow it sounds like a very painful day. i am so sorry to hear that u r hurting so bad and all over. i hope u can get some relief somehow. i also hope u can sleep.

That sucks SK. So sorry that you're going through that. My thoughts are with you and I hope that you get some "gentle" weather soon.

Hugs

Robyn
