Fibro and Food

Firstly, dairy is an inflammatory, so it should be avoided by anyone with Fibromyalgia. I stopped eating gluten and dairy because my Fibromyalgia seems to be a lot better without both those things. I drink and eat lots of things with potassium in them, because potassium can help with cramping and just general stiffness and pain. Potassium is in coconut water and bananas, but coconut water has more in it. Caffeine is also something that should be avoided. Tea is okay if it doesn't have much caffeine, but chocolate and coffee are both really bad for a Fibromyalgia patients, in my opinion. Things with a lot of sugar aren't helpful for Fibromyalgia either...though mostly just processed sugars are bad. I know some of these things may sound ridiculous or like you can't be bothered to change your entire diet because of Fibro, but believe me, it's worth it. And I've done my research on the foods that Fibromyalgia patients should and shouldn't eat over the last 3 years or so. I've done a lot of experimenting on myself with different foods and cutting out certain things. The two biggest things I will stress are that gluten and dairy are both horrible for this illness, and that a pretty fair amount of potassium should be added to your diet on a daily basis.

It sounds like there are more things we can't eat than things we can eat. thanks for the info.

I guess it does seem like that.. But there are many things we can eat. You just have to be more creative with your food than most people. Being able to cook most things you eat yourself is pretty useful. But it's hard, because a lot of the time I don't have the strength/energy to cook =/
