Anyone else have TMJ along with the fibro.? This TMJ has been a real pain in the face for me...I catch myself clenching my jaws together...and wind up with horrible Migraines. I have now found myself dusting off the muscle relaxer to relieve the clenching. What do you do for your TMJ ?
I have tmj Aswell, I am seeing a physio for it which has helped a little with the pain, locking and tightness. He gives me different massage techniques and exercises to do on my jaw and neck. The dentist said a mouth guard to wear at night would also help but at the moment I’m not able to get one due to finances. Also I was told last week that Botox injections help out a lot for some people.
The Botox does work but it is expensive. I paid $1,200 USD for one vile but the results were worth it. Talk to your dentist about it. I try to get the injections twice a year.
My rheumy. mentioned injections but I cannot imagine that. I was like yeahhhh...NO. I will have to research the injections for TMJ. I know right now for me it is an everyday issue. My son has TMJ and has a mouth guard and I remember it was costly. I will have to check into a Physio. Thanks for the reply.
I can't remember how to spell out the technical term, but tmj is when you clench your jaw so tight you get pain. that pain can lead to headaches, neck strain and more
TMJ disorders cause tenderness and pain in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) — the joint on each side of your head in front of your ears, where your lower jawbone meets your skull. This joint allows you to talk, chew and yawn.
I have to add face swelling to the TMJ as well... I am getting so tired of this pain in my face...and the chipmunk look just drives me crazy!!! I sure hope today is a better day. I am going to make an appointment with my Dentist to get this checked out.
I also have TMJ, got a special mouth piece a few months back, which I wear every night and it helps alot! TMJ can cause tension headaches which can be very bothersome. Hope you get better soon!!!
