It's that time of year again and there is a huge sign at my pharmacy advertising for flu shots.
How do you feel about flu shots? Do you get them?
Thanks,
Kitty

I always get 1 the 1st week of October. I'd rather deal w/the searing ache in my arm for a week than have the flu!
I do not get mine any more. I had mine then 2 weeks later the pneumonia shot and was in the hospital for a week.
i have been hospitalized for complications of the flu every winter so my doc and i decided i should take them.last 2 winters i did not end up in the er. so for me its a 'yes'... take care! HUGS
Being on immune suppressants, I cannot take a live vaccine! I'm to stay away from this kind of thing all together!
Had thought about a yearly pneumonia shot before the Enbrel, but by the time the shots were available, I usually already had bronchitis from the mold allergies of fall! Sometimes you just cannot win!
Do they even offer this to one with CFS?
Here are some pros and cons, Kitty, hope it helps!
I just had it on Tuesday, and oh my. I was so sick Wednesday, it was really bad. High fever, shivering and massive migraine. My left shoulder still hurts.
I feel better now. It was my first time on having the flu shot. And I think I’ll continue on doing it, I think is really important.
Soft and caring hugs.
Yndira.
Hi Kitty, I get the flu shot every year. I’ve been getting flu shots for 4 years because I was advised by my Transplant Clinic to do so. My arm gets quite sore but after a couple of days it goes away. Last year was the first year I think that I had a very mild case of the flu that was going around. It only lasted three days (cough, sore throat) while others were getting it for 2 to 4 weeks. I’ll be getting the flu shot again this year.
I do, Kitty. I worked with seniors for many years and didn't want to give the flu to them. And boy, do they work! I haven't had the flu in a loooong while. But, you know, I'm wondering if shots can put us into a flare because I had my cortisone shots two weeks ago and was sick for a week. Still, I think the possible pain would be small potatoes compared to getting the flu.
Yndidav, are you allergic to eggs? People who are aren't supposed to get the flu shot. Maybe you had an allergic reaction to the shot?
Not at all.
Whoops to late for me, I have all the flu symptoms including cough, chest pain major headache, pain around my eyes and temperature of 102. The aching all over how could we tell. I’ll have to check it with my doctor to see if I should still get the shot when I’m better.
I get them every year because I work in healthcare. Before I got them, I'd be out of work quite a few times not only due to flu, but for respiratory illnesses that worsened into bronchitis. Since getting them every year, I get the flu only once or twice and it only lasts a couple of days compared to the week or so it used to.
Meg
I used to get them every year when I worked at my kids school and then at the health clinic. I was exposed to everything. I wonder now, but was reminded that we still handle very germy things; like grocery carts, etc.
I see my doc on Wednesday and I'll see what she says. I'll let you all know. I'm excited to see her again. Sure is nice not to be fretting my MD appt!
Love and Hugs to all of you! I value your opinions so much. Here's to a flu-less winter!
Kitty
Oh no, sweetie. I'm so sorry. I hope you are feeling better soon. I know it can take awhile so just relax yourself and go with it. Lots of fluids B2.
Big soft hug my friend,
Kitty
