Flu and Fibro

Hi All,

New here... Glad to be part of your community.

I am wondering if I should get flu shot this year, but I am very concerned it will make me feel that much more lousy as I have heard that flu shots can do that to those of us with fibromyalgia. Will it give me the flu?

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much,

Laurie

Hi Baltimore - I get the flu shot every year now. I haven't had any problems with the flu shot concerning my FIbro. But you need to do what YOU feel is comfortable for you. I am in my 60's - so my doctor stressed that it was important that I continue the annual flu shots. So far, no problems! Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Nope, it didn't make me feel lousy nor did I get the flu from it. And I hear that this year's flu is bad, so it might be a good idea.

Laurie,
My doc actually insisted that I get the flu shot and I had no problems with it except maybe a little more tired than usual for a couple of days. Consider this- even. If the flu shot makes you feel a little worse for a couple of days, isn’t that better than getting the flu and feeling tons worse for several days to a couple of weeks. The flu is so bad here this year that all the doctors offices and the hospital is making everyone in their waiting rooms wear masks while they are there.

I get a flu shot every year, and got mine this year in October. I had no problems whatsoever with it.
