I just couldn't take one more minute of not being more informed about my costochondritis especially given the frequency of the questions and discussions on it here as of late! I had to do something, so I researched a bit and I found a terrific blog I had to share with all of you. It's called, "Costohope" and here is the url:
I’ve suffered this so badly after a rear end car accident that I could barely lift a dinner plate. My husband took me to our Doctor, he and my husband held me down and he gave me a shot of Demerol in my sternum, I’ll never forget that as long as I live’ surely that one blood curdling scream cleared the waiting room, but I’ll tell you it knocked it out if me, broke the pain cycle.
My rheumatologist on a more recent occasion pushed on the side bottom tips of the ribs and shot me off the exam table.
I have mentioned poor digestion in several discussion, noting that I take probiotics and spectrazyme.
Jethro Kloss in his book ’ Back to Eden mentions that we should not drink during or immediately after eating as we dilute digestive enzymes. He also earns not to mix fruits and vegetables. That fruits are to be eaten 30 minutes before a meal. Never as dessert. It’s full of great info written decades ago.
This is very good info Laurie. Thanks for posting it.
Hope you find some substantial relief.
Sending some love,
Lovett I can only describe the worst of the pain as a cocktail of very bad heartburn mixed with heartattack! On good days, (ain’t that a laugh with costo?) it’s a mild mixture of the above. But yes it is generally located near sternum above breast. Mostly I get stabbing pains on left side. Get it checked out by your dr. hon so you can get some relief if it is costo.
Thanks, Susan. Sorry you’ve had to experience it! Mine has never been as bad as your attack sounds but surely bad enough. I will definitely check out the Spectrazyme hon.
Take care…
Love,
Laurie
Lovett, mine is in the lower rib area and the side of the ribcage. Which doesn't really sound like costo. I get it almost every morning and my Lyrica helps to relieve it. Where does yours hit you, Lovett?
Great topic! I'm glad you've posted this for us. It's interesting how the author advocated dig dig digging, as she feels that costo is a mask for an auto-immune disease. I don't know if that's true or not but I'm sure in some cases it is. And it's just great to talk about costo because it's never explained very well in medical text-speak. For me, it feels like someone's sitting on my ribcage, trying to push the air all out. Not as vicious a pain as the others experience!!! But it's acting up tonight because I took my nightly meds late and its actually early morning now, it's favorite time to come and make a visit.
