I have had to stop paying Kaiser membership due to the expense. While I wait to qualify for MediCal (Medicaid) I am forced to use Low Income Health (county services).
I was told that Lyrica and Cymbalta would probably not be covered but those are the two meds that work for me.
Does anyone know of any free programs for these meds- if prescribed? I need to start looking now BEFORE I run out. Thanks all.
Stopping lyrica suddenly can cause some serious medical problems. Contact the drug company many of them have programs to help also call your doctor they can put you in contact with different resources. some pharmacies offer discount cards.
Here's the link to Pfizer's financial assistance program. You need to answer 3 questions, and then will be redirected to the application if you qualify. http://www.phahelps.com/pages/misc/Default.aspx
Do note that the financial assistance may not be long-term; my Lyrica supply was for 6 months. I don't know if you can reapply at that time.
Also, Cymbalta's patent is up this month, so that means generic Cymbalta can be made available. How soon this will be done I do not know but I'm willing to bet it won't be long, if it takes any time at all.
Here is a list of programs that Sheila comprised for us! Hopefully there is something here to help you out, Linda! We work very hard to earn these when we need them!
Also, being a member of AAA can sometimes equal a huge savings in meds. I had to pick up a script for my sister's dog. It would have cost $77 but because I was a AAA member, I got it for $30.
Also, I've been able to get Lyrica through my state's health insurance plan for the uninsured because I have stomach ulcers and cannot take NSAIDS. So if you have aggravating factors, you might be able to qualify for the Lyrica and/or Cymbalta anyway.
