you need to go the dr and have an ultrasound on your thyroid. I do have the problem and have had it even though part of it was due to my thyroid. Eat small food, and chew 40 times, drink water after each bite. It is better after thyroid is taken care of. The thyroid is part of the endocrine family where fibro resides. Almost everyone who has fibro that I know has thyroid issues. Te thyroid can swell itself and make it harder to swallow, or nodules can be formed that causes swallowing problems. Let us know how you do.. Good luck!
Hi there, I think it would be a good idea to see a gastroenterologist. I think you possibly might have a hiatal hernia. It happens when the upper part of the stomach pushes through an opening in the diaphragm and up into the chest. The opening is called a esophageal hiatus. It can get squeezed at times, especially when eating because when you swallow food, your esophagus contracts and shortens and pulls on the stomach. As you know, the pain can be severe. A gastroenterologist can fix the problem, if that's what it is. Most of the time, surgery is recommended because at any time, that squeezing could prevent blood from getting to that area and the tissue then could die. I'm not saying you have this, so please take it with a grain of sand! It's just one possibility out of many. I hope you will see someone soon. : )
