I'm new to all this... Do you sometimes feel an increase in pain and brain fog after a very stressful event?

I had a very stressful day two days ago. One of my kids was injured badly enough to need to go to the ER and get stitches (she's okay). She's only a toddler, so she was terrified of getting stitches and I held her while she screamed "Help me, Mommy!!!" during the process of getting numbed and getting stitches on her forehead. It was heart wrenching.

Since it happened, I feel like I have the flu... sort of. So much body pain. I can tell my meds are helping, but not helping as much. Could this be because of the stress from two days ago? Could it still be hitting me? I am definitely noticing an increase in brain fog since it happened, as well.

I've been so brain foggy for so many years that I've never been able to observe how long a tail my stress reactions had before. Is it normal to have a crazy stressful day one day and still be feeling body pain from it days later?

Unfortunately, yeperoozer.

If one thing isn't helping, keep trying on finding something else that will. M

Hello seaturtle,

Absolutely, I believe stress is a huge factor! But when you have kids, little ones or big ones, what can you do? I don't know, and as I didn't get this tricky condition until mine were grown up, it is not quite the same. (Trust me there are still stresses there, tho). It often takes me a few days to get over a stressful event, or just general over-exertion. Hope our little one is ok.

Take care, Anne

Omg YES!!! When I’m in a stressful event I just sort of go on autopilot n do what I have to do to get thru it and I crash!

Yes I experience a flare in my symptoms as well when I experience a stressful event. For example my car was involved in an accident last week (not my fault) and I am still experience a lot of pain and really bad fibro fog from that event and stress afterwards in terms of filing a claim and trying to get my car repaired, etc.

I hope you will find relief soon

oh yes. yes, yes, yes. You can have a stressful event and feel the side effects up to a week later. I recently had a VERY stressful event and it caused me to have a 3 month flare up. I mean out and out on the couch watching TV not able to do ANYTHING kind of flare up. You just have to be aware and know when a stressful situation is coming and go into it with a different attitude. obviously ER visits are an exception. Stress will definitely bring on flare ups. I have had to change my way of thinking. My event was unavoidable and I had different things stress me out for two weeks straight. It took me down. But I learned some new things for the next time.
