Part of fibro fog?

Hello. Let me explain what happens. Usually around 1pm, I experience what can only be described as a "heaviness" over my brain. I can't concentrate on anything, even something as mundane as TV. I experience some pain in the front part of my brain (not necessarily a headache) just trying to keep my eyes open. I begin slurring some of my words. I finally give in and lay down. Sometimes I fall asleep and sometimes I just listen to some ASMR videos with my eyes closed for 30 min or so. When I get up, the "heaviness" is gone. I can concentrate again.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks for your input. I do suffer from low blood sugar because of my PCOS, but this doesn't feel like that. I appreciate your suggestion. I'll give it a try

Thanks for your response. I don't drink any caffeine at all, but always a good reminder. Sleep is elusive to me as I suffer from insomnia and sleep apnea. Naps are my best friend. LOL

Hi Rosie,

I think your first stop should be to your doctor, to make sure this isn't something unrelated to fibro. Once you're cleared of any other issues, I can say that yes, all of it sounds exactly like fibro fog except the pain in the front of your head. That's the part that's throwing me and why I suggest seeing your doctor. But the heavy feeling, not being able to keep your eyes open, and finally needing to just lie down, yeah.

I find that getting enough rest is the only way to combat it. Our bodies are exhausted fro being in pain and need the rest.

I'm sorry that you're experiencing it. Oh, one suggestion is to have your iron checked, as you might have a deficiency and anemia can make you even more tired. Worth a look!

Gentle hugs,

Petunia

I often get this heaviness in my head and limbs along with the inability to concentrate, speak coherently, or understand what's being said to me, and think the advice to see your doc is very sound. I do suffer from migraines however, and usually get the same heaviness before one starts, so it's often hard to figure out if the fatigue from PsA and fibro is to blame, or the migraines. It could be possible that you have developed some type of migrainous headaches. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon. X

my fog doesnt roll that way because mine dont hurt, my migraines in the mornings do tons and body pain does but when the fog strikes me is more of a being aware that im not aware does that make sense? it feels like to me like that moment when you realize in a maze that you are irrevocably and unequivocally lost and your heart begins to race and you cant read the signs and realize that theyre blurry and landmarks look familiar but you cant place them so you got to wait them out til you come back into focus. im told i look and act like a drunk but i make complete sense to me (in my fog) they just dont make sense to me but ive been shown the video and i look absolutely disoriented and confused i dont see how they cant tell

Hi Rosie,

I do the same thing except mine seems to never let up. It varies in severity. This is fairly new to me and I haven't figured out what my triggers are. I know stress is number 1, but not sure of others. I was told by someone (related to my husband) that this was not fibro fog. She has FM also and has had it for a long time. I have done a lot of internet research and am convinced I am suffering from fibro fog. I have had a couple of MRIs in the last year and the Dr said they were clear. Dr diagnosed me sometime after my fathers death in November last year. I cant remember when. Memory has been shot for couple years, but worse since then. I do feel a fullness in my head, usually sides and front. Cant really call it a headache. Its hard to describe. I don't drive often since I cant stay focused long on anything. I don't slur words, but I do mix them up or use wrong word completely. I haven't worked in over a year. The anxiety of not being able to talk or run register puts me into a flare up. I think maybe because we don't get that deep sleep that rejuvenates our brain it functions the best that it can.
