In need of advice on a GOOD mattress

Hi, I am in new to this website! Hello everyone! Thanks for having me! My first thought was to ask all of you on what kind of mattress you use. I'm in desperate need of a new one. I refuse to buy another cheap, crappy one again!! No ideas or opinions are wrong! I'll take anything. Even advice on pillows.

I suffer from Fibromyalgia, along with a bulging disc in my neck and no muscle mass in between my shoulder blades. My pain is pretty much everywhere, but worse in my hips and back.

Please Help!!!

Jessica

Hi Jessica. I like a very firm mattress rather than a soft one that you can sink into . For me thise do not give me any support . I have a great deal wrong with my entire spine so my mattress and pillows are very important . I hope you find what works for you . All the best

I bought myself a 4" memory foam mattress topper for my full sz bed & bought queen sz sheets to fit the bed. Its cost was $100 3yrs ago. M

Hello Jessica,

Great question, it will be good to hear experience and advice from others', so following... If you have a shop where you can try out mattresses, that would be a good start. we have one in UK. Also I suspect a firm one would be best, maybe an orthopaedic one? Wish you well

Take care, Anne

I bought a very good queen size mattress at a hardware store named Kempkers.I'm not sure the brand but it's specially designed for a woman's body and I love it so much that I don't want to get out of bed in the morning.I'll look on the mattress or in the store and let you know what it is.

Honestly, though I don’t like the feeling of being encased in a way, a memory foam mattress has provided me with the best night’s sleep for my conditions. I have sleep apnea, cervical spine bulging discs, scoliosis and (shoulder nerve compression) thoracic outlet syndrome in addition to Fibro and sleep can be difficult. Best wishes.

I did the same thing about 6 years ago. Went to a mattress store and explained about the fibro, and they showed me several choices--which I tried out. Was able to get what I wanted for about $600--great investment. Then I talked them into throwing in a $75-95 pillow--cause I was having such a hard time deciding if I was getting a good deal or not, you know (I love to get a good bargain), and it has also made a lot of difference in the support it provides. Kelly--how about some pic of those cute little puppies. And I want another picture in about six months of them all sleeping in bed with you. ha ha Claudia

I have a lot of back issues too and my chief complaint lately has been my neck, low back, hip and leg pain, I've had 6 bulging disc since 2003 I get them n don't even know how sometimes other than the doc says I have degenerative disc disease whatever that means, anyhow, mattress is very important to me too i got a pillow top mattress it is a off brand I love it and the price was not outrageous, I don't think you have to spend a fortune on a mattress to get a good one and I think with a pillow top you have that little puff of softness and comfort without being too squishy, a really soft mattress or a really hard firm one gets my back everytime, if you are like me too I've got animals all over the place n in my bed so I don't see putting thousands in a mattress when you can get one in comparison for much cheaper, I went to a mattress store and just tried them out I know I spent less than 500!! LOVE THE BULLY, best dogs in the world, I am currently being a foster mom to 6 of them, they are now 3 weeks old, I've had them since they were 5 days old, their mom died shortly after their birth, 2 are solid white! Take care of yourself, kelly

I would recommend a sleep number bed because you can adjust it to different settings depending on how you’re feeling. We bought ours not too long after I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia & it really helped. Unfortunately, our pump quit working right around the time our warranty was ending & we never replaced it so for the last year I’ve been sleeping on a futon until I can get the money to either get a new pump or mattress. But, it did last for 20 years.

I just went crazy and bought a sealy memory foam mattress with the adjustable frame. It costs a bunch of money but I was able to get an intrest-free installment plan. I went from sleeping four hours to 9! I consider it worth every penny. The maker has every kind from extra firm to soft so you can pick what you like.

I have a semi waveless waterbed with a 2 inch Memory foam mattress topper , to protect it from my cats . It is awesome . I have fibromyalgia L4 L5 l6 s1 ruptured and bulging disc arthritis in tailbone spinabifada olculta slight scoliosis and still searching for most recent diagnosis from rhumatology we know 4 sure it is an autoimmune just playing the waiting game . But the water bed is great the heat helps with the pain too pluss it doesn't cause pain . But the heat helps releave the pain in muscles or the arthritis . Helps me ! Good luck .
