When I saw my Rheumy last week, she prescribed Celebrex 200mg once daily and Prozac, don't know the strength because it was never called in. I still had Celebrex from last year, nearly 2 months worth, so I can try it out first because who knows if my insurance will even pay for it.
My question is, has Prozac helped people with their pain and/or depression? Reducing the pain is more important to me right now.
I was on Prozac already when I was diagnosed with Fibro many years ago. The Prozac didn't seem to help with depression or pain so I went off of it after a year. I did have pain relief to a degree with Celebrex, I was prescribed it for a while for arthritis but this was also quite a long time ago. Hugs!
Thanks Necee, lovett and Auburnm for your responses.
The reason I am actually asking is that the doc forgot transmitting the script to the pharmacy and I wanted to check with you guys to see if I should even bother calling her about it.
I might wait a couple of days to see if I get more responses on how well it works.
I've started taking the Celebrex last week Thursday and it "seems" to help. Seems is in quotation marks because I always seem to have the placebo effect for a bit. I'll know for sure in another week, by then the placebo effect will have worn off. My body is really weird that way. It doesn't do it for all meds but it does for most of them.
I took Prozac for years, and I don’t think it helped my pain at all…and I still would get depressed sometimes, even while taking it everyday. My doctor finally switched me to cymbalta, which is used frequently for patients with fibro. I haven’t been able to tell if it helps with my pain too much, because I’m in a flare & I just started the medicine, but it has helped with my depression. Hope it works better for you. Xoxo.
I was having excruciating pain in my back, shoulders and neck and a specialist in fibromyalgia put me on Zoloft for post partum depression . It helped immensely. My neck and shoulder pain went away and my memory improved.
