Itchy prickly skin

Does anyone have itchy prickly skin sensations? What helps?

Hi Tresa, I have dry itchy skin. I use Eucerin Skin calming Itch Relief cream. I buy it at Wal-Mart. I apply it right after I bath. My dermatologist recommended Aveeno Eczema Therapy moisturizing cream. Also at Wal-Mart. I apply that during the day when I feel itchy. I also use Dove soap to bath. My OBGYN suggested Ivory soap but I like dove products. I hope these help you too.

Yes! I have been dealing with it for about 7 months now and I started calling it "the suckiness". It started on just my arms and scalp, but has now progressed to my entire body. Nothing ever really takes it completely away, but I did start taking gabepentin and it seems to help a little. What I have found that feels the best is water. Of course I can't be in water all the time, but some relief is amazing.

Nova had some great suggestions. I also like the dove and its seems to help. Make sure to stay hydrated that helps also.

I am always itchy it seems. Lots of lotion and oils. I also get severe itching/burning on my hands and feet (mainly fingers and toes) that feels so deep down that scratching super hard doesn’t ease it. Can anyone relate to that? I can scratch the area until it’s super red, then put on lotion and no difference! It’s also seems to happen mostly at night. I have found that Dermoplast, a pain reliving spray, is the only thing that helps. It’s a numbing spray.

Yes, I get what feels like something moving under my skin. Creepy, I think I’ve got some crawling on me. But I suffer from eczema and have severe dry skin. I spend a lot of time putting lotions on. I like to use aloe, shea butter and coco butter. These help me the best. I used no perfume laundry detergents. But when I started Gabapentin most of the itch and skin sensations disappeared. Thank God. There were time I would feel like something just bit me, such as a mosquito would. LOL.

Hi Melyn,

I think you should see your Dr. Scratching till it's red is not good. I had that problem but I had severe pain also. It turns out I had Morton's neuroma. It took a change of Dr to take care of that. Now I have hammer toes on my left foot. I also developed bunions. Lots of things happened to me all at once. So whenever I start itching in my toes or fingers I get worried. I also used Dermoplast, alot. It helps but it only covers up the problem. I also used ice. I sometimes slept with ice. Take care I hope you find relief.

Thank you Nova. I will bring it up on my next visit. The Dermaplast is the only thing that helps. Love that stuff! My husband has foot issues such as yours. I know how difficult that can be. :frowning:
Take care,
Melyn

I use to feel this on my back and legs, it drove me crazy! What helped relieve it was to AVOID wearing clothing that was too tight or that had too much acrylic/mohair/cashmere/polyester in it. Also bathing with a moisturizing soap/bodywash like Nivea, Dove or Aveeno helped too - so did those lotion brands.

This is new symptom for me to, driving me nuts!
