Just wrote this somewhere:
What has helped me all along is “radical acceptance” (as in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy). As I accept where I am NOW (WITH all the pain and annoying symptoms), and am at peace with it, and am happy. So I DON’T (need to) waste energy on * braving the cleft between becoming perfectly healed and my state now, or * comparing my state to others, or * suffering from listening to others, for whatever reason, or * fighting myself or my fibro as in a war.
One of the pre-requisites is praps grieving properly. That took me a week upon getting the fibro diagnosis, a week upon realizing I have severe cardiovascular problems that needed me to take meds (which I’ve managed to get off of again tho), and no time at all realizing I also have MCAS and have had it for decades.
I am a “warrior” only in the sense that I’m a tumbler who never gives up to get ahead. But I am not at war with myself, exactly the opposite. My fibro and my MCAS are just reactions showing my need, showing that what I and others have expected from myself is not right and too much. I am now caring for a person who never got enough care in all his life, who desperately needs my love and care. I am a self-carer.
This opens up much more power to look how to install my new life. This is well paced (usually slow, sometimes fast). But mainly it is a slow steady self-care, watching what is good for me and what is bad for me and implementing it immediately, again: now.
Again another pre-requisite for that is mindfulness, being in my Here and Now.
But at the same time I again now have the power to turn all this into fruit for others, that I can listen to them and give, properly. Not any longer from something I haven’t got, but from something I have.
If you read my posts again, you will not have to read much about pain and suffering, you will see my coping and actively improving my situation all the time.
I don’t think about what people understand or don’t understand and I don’t fog over to enjoy. I tell them it’s nice to be with you, but my time is limited because it will increase my pain. I stop when it gets too much. Or sometimes I endure, if I want to, and that’s OK too. That way they can be sure I know what I’m doing. Since they feel powerless, and they are. Only I have the knowledge to self-care.
You’ve got the bud of peace in yourself already, you’ve written it all over. But you can overcome that war in this moment. “Hug” yourself, “stroke” yourself, be careful, take care, love yourself as thy neighbour. You are so precious. And you can have the blessings you talked about, be thankful and praise for them, every single second. You “just” have to decide to. That can open up peace inside yourself. Peace in paradise is cheap peace. Real peace is learning to be at peace altho the world is at war. And in that peace lies the strength to change whatever is in our power, and that is a lot. Even if only sharing here.

Hehe, ah… so: feeling pregnant, rather than looking it… OK, when I didn’t have my triggers sorted out I did look ab bit pregnant for a few hours after midday…
Now you’ve really jogged my thoughts, tho! Someone else had said it before, but you always make me think, even if you don’t ask your brilliant questions.
And thinking about it today, I know I used to bloat so much, with full IBS-D flares most of the day. But how come I am now eating all these veggies and even cabbage with hardly any problems? I think it was because I was eating quite a bit of processed foods, plus I didn’t have my triggers sorted out, so my gut and stomach were in a constant irritation.
Eating the “same” food in a restaurant would cause me to flare, because it just isn’t the same. There you get spices without them being able to tell you what they are. In a certain pizzeria I used to love, when I occasionally still ‘sinned’, I kept getting really bad stomach ache a short while after eating their pizzas. And I asked again and again what is in the tomato sauce. The third time I asked, they asked in the kitchen and got told that they had pepper in their pastry… In another place I had a specially made salad once or twice a week only with things I tolerate, but kept getting IBSD afterwards. We went thru everything together and realized it was the vinegar which they got without a declaration, but it was a herbal vinegar…
So: I’m not sure what you eat, but if you do eat processed foods, with spices, and in mixtures, plus simple carbs like sugar, praps also gluten, I’m pretty sure these are the actual reason and not the pure veg?
Oh contraire JayCS… I’m sure I would feel AND look pregnant if I followed your diet. Hee Hee!!! But I was never able to have children. I’m glad this diet is more tolerable for you. I still haven’t adjusted my diet. When I do, I’m starting with taking gluten out of my diet. You would think with all the pain and suffering I’ve been through in 3 1/2 years, I’d be quick to try a new diet. My first thought is that I have given so much up, I’m not ready to give up something I enjoy which contains gluten. I admire your tenacity to find works best for you. I had my EMG/ NCS today. They tested my entire arm, right and left and my entire leg, both right and left. I feel electrified!

Since I’ve been suffering from my teens (at the latest) on, and with severe gastritis in my 30s, it’s something I’ve grown very trained in, after then realizing more and more how much I can influence. I’d actually thought I was doing quite well 10 years before fibro. But when that came up and I first didn’t know how to get the main pains down, I started on all the side symptoms parallel, and I still hadn’t got the stomach & gut ones down to zero. Being on sick leave gave me the time to concentrate on it. People often say it’s the stress that leads to not being able to self-care, but I think for me more than that is we don’t have the time and energy. Then my “genetic lipid” came out to be sky high, so I had to go on a Mediterranean diet. And now the low histamine due to the MCAS. The positive feeling I had and still have was not one of reduction and not being able to treat myself, but one of self-care and eating “clean”. Also I’ve finally learnt to indulge the self-caring way: Much smaller amounts than I used to. Like basically putting good order into things, but a bit of controlled chaos is a good balance.
Oh dear, 4 times Didn’t want to go into it too much to not worry you, but when they deeply jabbed my thigh(s?) and they said: Now tense your muscles harder, no: even harder! - no, harder still! I was pretty much making noises close to shouting or screaming. Afterwards they told me every doc or I’d think at least neurologist has to do this in their training, so they know what it’s like. If results differ I’m sure mine was tough for some reason… I’m really keen to hear your results!
The technician that did the tests was awesome. She did one needle at a time starting with my right side, foot. I had to push against her hand, turn my foot inward like I was pigeon toed and flex my foot back. Only one time did a needle jab cause me to yell. It was on my right side and I think it was a tricep. For the NCS, she told me ahead of time what type of shock I would receive and what the intensity would be. What caught me off guard was that no matter the intensity or location of the shock, my body would almost have a seizure when the shock happened and continued even after the shock had stopped. Not sure if that means anything or not. Still waiting for the test results.

Covid-danger: My wife’s on leave from work, so less risk. Altho everyone is allowed to stop wearing masks in shops etc., 95% are still doing it, which is a comfort. Read today from our most reputable expert that the ideal immunity can only be got by getting 3 jabs and then 3 infections, preferably not omicron, preferably with some fairly strong symptoms. So I need to get the 3rd jab…

MCAS/HIT-Symptoms/Triggers/Treatments: 2 months after the 2nd jab today, up from 10% to 30% due to Chinese acupuncture. 1st jab I was down to 10% till Jan 25th = day 56, having started the supps, then up pretty quickly to 30%, partly 25%. Now the acupuncture brought it up off and on to between 10 and 20 until she changed it, up to 20% since Mar 29th = 18+29= 47 days, quickly 25%, and since Apr 9th 30% or more, after 60 days. I think that really is shorter than the 1st jab, and only due to the spine acupuncture. If it’s neither the supps nor the acupuncture, then I’m simply needing 2 months to recover from each of the jabs. However the 2nd jab felt worse than the 1st.

JayCS I have just reread what you said about your jab back in November. On Saturday I had my second booster jab for Covid. It is just not compatible with fibromyalgia. The pain and tiredness are horrendous since having it. Not able to concentrate on anything and making silly mistakes. This morning I could not even remember how to make fruit and jelly because of being so tired. I make this every week! Hopefully it will settle down soon.

SELF-PHYSIO (click for details). In the morning I spontaneously started using my massage gun all around my knees because of the painful stiffness when I start(-ed) to move. Need to use it sideways like on the neck, so it doesn't bump around. Writing that reminded me that it doesn't bump or make waves as much on the higher speeds. But that's a bit tough on the head if I do my neck, need to do it very gently. Afterwards praps the elbows and fingers from the strain of holding it, but usually not necessary as that goes away inside of a few minutes. Lot less stiff! Repeated. RR? ❌

Focal seizures at 15:00 and 16:45, first in quite a time. Is this too much or too little GABA, or generally not too good, or the gig stress overdoing it. 16:50 maybe a bit of burnt tongue, so I’ll take added 200mg of GABA. Nothing till a 3rd seizure at 20:30. Edit 17th: Pretty sure that was the acupuncture, and looked at research: decreases histamine, increases serotonin, see conclusion there.
