SLEEP (click for details): 10h10!, up 2!x (10'!) ✅, but ➔ Feeling 70% well, Ache 2 of 7 🧐, getting up: 70%/2 🧐. Still 'dead' tired upon waking, with energy, but also exhausted, and mentally starting to chatter. Not sure why, but I didn't take B2-B4 at 6.

ACTIVITIES (aim: 40%)ACHE: Cold shower before bed was really tough, hurting, but very necessary to get the pain down for better getting to sleep. 70%/3. A bit of work and TT :ping_pong: 1:1 took the Ache up from 3-4 to 5 ➔ 60%/5 :x:, Acupuncture brought it down to 1 work ➔ 60%/1) :x::face_with_monocle:. Strangely fatigue down in the evening, which feels histaminey, so plan to drop antihistamine on a verge.

MCAS/HIT-Symptoms/Triggers/Treatments: Fatigue suddenly less at 20:00: histamine :bangbang: burnt tongue starting up and sinuses very slightly, probably cos of a bit of a walnut.
Fibro & Touch: Starting to try to get used to touch a bit more, sometimes better than other times. Often I have to rub the part that was touched. Me touching my wife is easier than being touched by her. Short is usually easy. Above 2-3 minutes it starts getting harder.

I’m not directly tired, but pressure round the eyes all the same, and limbs in tar and heavy.
My overall Ache is similar to the heaviness, immobilizing, so please I’d like to have all the pains back, but be able to move…
My 7th acupuncture session (SE03EP07 :smirk:) just took the Ache of 4 down to 1, but nothing else: Fat lot of use that is…
Spontaneously I started praying during the session, something I haven’t been wanting to do recently, but I think I’ll do it more now: Puts life into a different perspective.
But as I haven’t got the choice to swap pain for heaviness, I’ll focus :microscope: on enjoying :partying_face: not feeling pain, using body scans and mindfulness.

v2: Up: 90%/1, back ex. and then 5’ of 7’ workout: limit there. 14:00 This may not feel “safe” yet, but it’s definitely much better!
pseudo-“80%”! → v1: evening (Tuesday) after 20:00 - fatigue suddenly hardly existent, at 22:00 I can move perfectly again without the least resistance, feels like “80%” physical activity, altho of course it would break down after 10-20’ at the latest . This is the first time after the 2nd jab, 40 days after it, whilst it happened several times after the 1st jab. 23:00 down to pseudo-“70%”.

ACTIONSPAINS: :white_check_mark: neck? GI? I’d overseen this: Today my stiffness is pretty much gone st0-1, showing that it’s been up to st3-6 along with the fatigue.

MCAS/HIT-Symptoms/Triggers/Treatments: evening (Tuesday) after 20:00 - fatigue suddenly hardly existent, at 22:00 I can move perfectly again without the least resistance, feels like “80%” physical activity, altho of course it would break down after 10-20’ at the latest. This is the first time after the 2nd jab, 40 days after it, whilst it happened several times after the 1st jab. This like the longer time for the jab sfx to develop might imply that it will take 3-4x longer than the jab-sfx of the 1st jab (where I progressed from 10% to 30% in 72 days). Let’s see how long it does take. At least it suggests the fatigue is again histamine and the effect will decrease during the first part of the night and be back down again tomorrow, which would again suggest not to stop the antihistamine as originally planned. Alternatively this is an effect of the acupuncture… that I’ll see tomorrow…
23:00 tongue tip ‘burning’ is pretty surely due to a piece of walnut. Wondering if the walnut increases histamine which makes the fatigue go away for a bit and then crash :interrobang: Something to test…"
13:00 After helping someone 30’ and 4x TT 45’ I’m still OK, so it seems to’ve been the acupuncture and isn’t just a normal ebb of histamine!
14:00 Starting to feel feverish-tired around eyes and arms. That continued along with feeling unmotivated to do any activity… don’t know why… warmer weather? No tongue burning or anything like that today.

Fibro & Touch: Practicing touching regularly, trying to make the most of it, not too long, but regularly. Touch has of course partly got tougher from the MCAS, e.g. showering.

Chinese Acupuncturist - Tuesday 22nd: Remained bad until the histaminey evening. If that’s gone tomorrow it “was” the walnut, if it isn’t it “was” the acupuncture…Did I say yesterday that she did a further almost 20 needles down my spine, instead of cupping my back. And the time before she realized that I was getting allergic symptoms. What I need to explain to her tomorrow is that this fatigue is likely mainly an allergic reaction. 14:00 Tired and more and more unmotivated to do some activity, but why, if I have energy?

2022-03-24, Thursday 10% → 20% after acupuncture again. Till when? 19:35 Just realized that the tired-feverishness is a sign that what the acupuncture is doing is NOT “REAL”, it’s just increasing my cortisol… Drat! :bangbang: :face_with_monocle:

v4: :ping_pong: 3:1 then 30’ gardening. v3: sinuses still “boring”.- not stiff, but quickly exhausted, v2: then acupuncture around spine again: fatigue down, energy fairly good, but again feverish; plus needles on sinuses, which seemed to help first, again about 40 needles, absolutely no pain from after they were in, like last time.

Development

I tried to post this here today, so I’ll save it here just in case it doesn’t get published: My Pfizer-jabs triggered what I now know is MCAS. Thanks to the above info it only took me a 1-2 months to identify it, educate myself and my docs, get the diagnosis confirmed. My oversensitivities were what made me wary about and wait with taking the jabs and these are now revealed as part of MCAS.

The 1st jab took me down from 40% activity level from fibro to 5-10% activity level, despite taking quercetin, vit. C and NAC already. After 72 days I was back up to 30%. Armed with hope, MCAS-supps, an antihistamine and lowered histamine food, I took the 2nd jab. It took 2 weeks for my activity level to decrease again to 5-10%, but most other symptoms are under control better. 6 weeks after the jab my activity levels are still at 10%, but acupuncture (by a Chinese) is managing to get them up to 20% for a time.*
Like the experts above from almost 2 years ago, my allergist recommended me to take the 2nd jab rather than the unpredictable risk of getting CoV. Some people with FM and some people with MCAS may be OK with CoV, but my good feeling for my body, with many more strange diagnoses, tells me that it’s not that easy…

Reasons to be cheerful #264 Wow, so much music, and acupuncture still partly working, pain is only with exertion, and I can make music with task-switching.

2022-03-28, Monday 15% - adjust the % for the last few days according to table tennis? But fairly hard to put it into ONE number, so maybe I’ll leave it at 20 for the last days and today 15, at least somewhere between 15 and 20. For short periods all symptoms are down, but pain comes up same as pre-acupuncture. Bit of research on ADHD and fibro (after also not finding anything relevant about autism and FM)

ACTIVITIES (aim: 40%)ACHE: 80%/2, supple & fairly energetic, altho due to the CoV-danger I need to go up- & downstairs now, which does lead to leg weakness back at tne top. TT :ping_pong: 2:2 80%/4. Absolutely 0 pain in the first game, very slight in the second, up in the 3rd and 4th (pretty tangible despite the cortisol kick) and together with increasing arm weakness very much influencing my play in the 4th :face_with_monocle:.
ACTIONSPAINS: :white_check_mark: neck: good. :white_check_mark: GI: stools in evening fairly hard, morning too. Severe belly ache again starting at around 3, but almond milk is enough to calm it down. :face_with_monocle:. jaw: Midday it seemed the small bits of chocolate (very dark) at the end of the meal was the problem, nothing before. Gotta watch that. :face_with_monocle: Standing has got better and walking a lot better due to the acupuncture, but everything is still limited compared to fibro-pre-jab, pee pain is back to zero after having forgotten the GABA.
MCAS/HIT-Symptoms/Triggers/Treatments: Histaminey symptoms well under control even without the antihistamine now. The fatigue is an effect of the jab, but hadn’t been improved by the antihistamine anyway. Slightly nostrils, sinuses and tongue at night.

Chinese Acupuncturist - Thursday 24th/Tuesday 29th: Tell her "Playing 4 games isn’t really “20%” physical activity - I am now able to pick up balls more and move supply, but the pain AND WEAKNESS still start increasing during the 2nd game and I need 1 or 2 breaks or end up pretty weak, futilely aimless. So whilst it is true that the effect of the acupuncture is still there, it isn’t like in the first days where I could really play 4 games without pain. 15% is truer. Sleep is still good, and that and the histaminey symptoms are well under control even without the antihistamine now. The fatigue is an effect of the jab, but hadn’t been improved by the antihistamine anyway. Main side problem, disturbing sleep, is now the new stomach ache and getting to bed too. Still no hot water bottle necessary at night, and sleep still good, even without the antihistamine."

’Research’ today: In answer to a request for studies about ADHD and fibromyalgia:
I think the results of most of these studies are faulty, as they are simply measuring brain fog and calling it ADHD (the criteria are identical), without checking whether the fibromites had ADHD before the fibro.
I’m not sure what anyone’ll be able to glean from them. …
I’d say they are firstly finding that it’s the case,
secondly that it’s a double whammy, increases symptoms, disability (functional impairment in work/school), depression, substance use disorders (esp. opioids), decreases quality of life.

But I’m not sure, so playing it pretty safe. Eating only with 5 yards distance, airing and disinfecting etc. all the time. Getting unsure if it’s necessary, lax partly.

Chinese Acupuncturist - Tuesday 29th: A neighbour just asked me “Is a goal in sight?” Good question. I answered “I’m a bit hopeful.” What would be a goal? ’Research’ today:
Nolotil is highly used here in Germany as ‘Novalgin’: Bloods need to be checked for (rare but deadly) agranulocytosis as soon as flu-like symptoms, even temperature, occur. In Spain it’s being systematically overdosed, which needs to be changed.
Sort of interested in an article that a few Britains in Spain have died from using it. I Got big-eyed seeing that’s metamizole / di-pyrone.Invented here in Germany 100 years ago and still highly used as ‘Novalgin’.
My first/only rheum.-prescription for fibromyalgia…! (But my skin reacted strongly to it.)
I’ve always wondered why I’m the only one who got this…!

The main problem is that it “very rarely” causes agranulocytosis - deadly if not recognized.
The numbers vary greatly according to studies, as is usual with very rare occurrences.
Agranulocytosis and neutropenia are caused by a very large number of meds, e.g. in the UK and elsewhere people need to be nationally registered for monitoring if they are taking clozapine for schizophrenia etc.

Workarounds in Germany for still highly using it:
a) Don’t take with methotrexate (esp. autoimmune diseases),
b) check bloods if there is any suspicion and especially
c) stop intake immediately with flu-like symptoms, even just temperature/light fever,
d) educate & inform GPs and patients about this.

Several Spanish articles from 2021 also suggest: It’s been systematically overdosed there (2g per 8h) and that desperately needs to be changed, e.g. Are we overdosing parenteral metamizole? | Cirugía Española (English Edition)

Yikes JayCS! I don’t like those side effects. I take 2 mg of klonopin every night for sleep. My body hurts so much, it takes me a long time to fall asleep. I saw a neurologist today. I moved so I needed a new one and a second opinion regarding my abnormal GAD65 AB. He is increasing my klonopin to 2 mg three times a day. He also ordered a brain, cervical spine and thoracic spine MRI and EMG/ NCT. He said that the first line of treatment for Stiff Person’s Syndrome is Klonopin. I need to look up side effects for that high dose of klonopin. He’s putting me on topamax to prevent migraines since I have about 7 a month. But I’m super med sensitive. Oh, smart JayCS, do you have any information about reflex scales? The neurologist wrote my reflexes were 4/5. I’m having trouble finding what that exactly means. I looked up a couple responses on the internet, but just got more confused.

And now Stiff Person’s Syndrome after all?!?
Last May you’d said here that the 1st opinion was that the neurological exam was not in favour of SPS. Is taking the klonopin meant to “diagnose”, if it helps then it is SPS, and a sort of shot in the dark as well?

Klonopin’ = clonazepam, a benzo. Ouch…
When taken for seizures max. is 20mg & panic max. 4mg a day, So 3x2mg=6mg is not necessarily that high. Except that taking these meds at all is a high risk of side effects. BTW wikipedia says diazepam is the more commonly used benzodiazepin for SPS.
As they relax the muscles by increasing GABA I still wonder like I’d already once asked you, if taking GABA itself might not be a risk-free way of trying to keep the meds down. Especially as you say you’re med sensitive (like me…). That’s exactly how I use it: To relax the muscles, which decreases pain and stiffnes… So really, I’d experiment with quickly increasing doses of GABA (again: the amino acid gamma-Aminobutyric acid). Some docs still believe that this is can’t cross into the brain, altho my experience and recent research shows it is.
Next in line after the benzo has had to be increased to a point where the side effecds outweigh the main effects might be baclofen, again a GABA-derivative (see my post on GABA-derivatives.)

Aside from the direct effects the interactions between these two may also be an increased problem. I spose it’ll be hard to distinguish what’s from what if you’re increasing the clonazepam plus adding topiramate.

Essentially of course you’re the one who’s got to decide if the main vs. side effects and risks are worth taking (not your doc - he’s just guessing and there’s hardly any real medical evidence to go by for SPS)…

Reflex scales. The one your doc used is the “DTR (deep tendon reflex) scale”. Since 5 there means clonus, rhythmically regular contractions, 4 would be the highest level apart from that. 2 is normal, 0 is no reflex (bad). So your reflexes are “too good”…

Who really knows if I have SPS? If I end up as a lawn statue, then yes??? :rofl: I just got home from having an MRI of the brain, cervical and thoracic spine. I could feel my body starting to seize up after about an hour of not moving. I hope I find out the results today. Tuesday is the EMG/ NCS. JAYCS, have you even had that test? If so, did it hurt? I think the neurologist is just trying the increased dose of klonopin to see if my symptoms reduce or go away. I wouldn’t say this neurologist would be the one to officially say whether or not I have SPS, but he is repeating some of the tests I had 3 years ago. He didn’t repeat the blood test. And I do have a follow up visit with him. I want his opinion about doing a lumbar puncture. I’m tired so I’m going to take a nap. :sleeping::yawning_face:

2022-04-01, Friday 20% - snow! But that wasn’t the reason for many inside, no outside activities: music, work, online meetings. Bit worried as my grandchild may have MIS-C = PIMS, caused by CoV. Similarly unspecific as my MCAS, but also immune system, unfortunately with possible heart involvement…

Development

I’ve never noted what I’m eating at the moment, what with IBS-D, hyperacidic stomach, genetically high lipids and histamine/MCAS, altho it’s a big question if it’s enough. I think it is if you look at this…:
Food: only 3 meals, never anything in between (to decrease lipids) this is what I eat (usually everything organic):
Mornings (somewhere between 7:00 and 11:00):
Lots of

  1. berry
  2. gluten-free muesli with
  3. almond milk.

Midday (between 13:00 and 16:00): a mix of chopped

  1. (with almond jogurt (rarely
  2. soy or
  3. dairy), either sweet: e.g.
  4. vanilla, or plain with
  5. salt &
  6. Provençal herbs)

or in one piece of raw

  1. alfalfa sprouts,
  2. bell peppers (yellow; not green or red),
  3. broccoli,
  4. carrots,
  5. chicory,
  6. courgette/zucchini,
  7. cucumber,
  8. china cabbage,
  9. fennel,
  10. sweet potatoes (love them raw, hate them cooked),
  11. seldom the (roughly 10) various lettuce forms nowadays,
  12. I could try bok choi.

Plus cooked

  1. quinoa (or
  2. amaranth, but I don’t like that taste; less
  3. rice &
  4. jacket potatoes, altho they may be OK)

with one cabbage form usually steamed after gently roasting in

  1. olive oil, plus again sea salt and Provençal herbs
  2. broccoli,
  3. cauliflower,
  4. red cabbage,
  5. white cabbage,
  6. sweetheart/pointed cabbage, and sometimes:
  7. green beans,
  8. brussel sprouts,
  9. pumpkins, what I could do more is
  10. green cabbage.

Evenings (between 19:00 and 21:00)
Raw veggies like midday, but more likely also a 2-3 slices of

  1. wholemeal bread than at midday, maybe 4x/wk, with
  2. almond butter, sometimes
  3. soft cheese or mozarella, or experiments.

Almost every meal:

  1. Pumpkin seeds,

or often (‘other’) nuts, altho a bit histaminey:

  1. almonds,
  2. cashews,
  3. hazelnuts,
  4. one brazil nut a day,
  5. hardly any walnuts or
  6. peanuts/peanut butter or
  7. sunflower seeds any more and
  8. one dried fig.
    Drink:
    Aside from 2l of Almond milk (see #3),
  9. 1 cup of chamomile tea.
    Sweets: Aside from one fig a day
  10. a little bit of very dark chocolate, 70% or 85%.

*Edit April 3rd:

  1. 2 small sweet apples a day and
  2. some sour apple sauce (not sugared nuch).*

So who says I haven’t got much to eat? (My wife does actually, but she’s happy that I’m widening it out a bit and cooking almost every day now.) That’s about 20 different foods every day, and changing.

Hehe, really?! My wife is always scared I’m losing weight, not eating enough and not varied enough, that’s why I’m putting it down on ‘paper’ for ‘all’ to see… (she’s never ever looked on my blog…)

So how come you think these veggies with a few unsaturated fats and complex carbs could make anyone gain weight?
The nuts I have to eat as I don’t eat meat or much dairy don’t forget…
Always same weight (whatever my wife thinks…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: - she’s just worrying.)
