I somehow sustained a knee injury, not really sure how I injured it. I've been having a lot of pain and swelling in my knees and have to ice/elevate my legs. I'm having difficulty walking, limping around because my left knee is very swollen and hurts when I put pressure on it. I have my next appointment with my Rheumy on 3/17, so I'm going to talk to her about it then. I'm also following up with my Chiropractor to get a massage to reduce the swelling and inflammation.
I'm having a difficult time coping with this. My husband says I'm being stubborn and don't want to rest as much as I should. That is why I have decided to stay home from work today and help my knee heal. It seems like it is one thing after another with this diagnosis.

Sorry to hear your are in pain with your knee. I think we all need to remember that having fibro doesn't mean we can't have normal injuries too. If you didn't have fibro would you have found it easier to admit defeat and have the time off work more readily? We are so used to not giving in to pain, or we wouldn't do anything, that it can be easy to convince ourselves that we shouldn't give in when others would treat the injury with more 'respect.' I hope you get some answers about what it might be next week and make a speedy recovery but in the meantime be kind to yourself. ((Hugs)
Hi QQ,
Thank you for the thoughtful response and support. I took your advice and am being kind to myself. I have been icing my knee more, resting and allowing myself to heal (even though I want to fight against it lol).
Hugs,
Sara

Hi Pamela,
I'm sorry to hear about your arm. Injuries on top of this diagnosis are definitely a burden. Thank you for the kind words and support. I hope you get well soon also.
Hugs,
Sara

((((HUGS)))) So sorry to read about your injury. I injured my right knee lifting leg weights back when I was 22 years old. After two weeks of pain and limping, my PCP sent me to an orthopedic doctor. I was told knee injuries take a long time to heal, but with rest and care it could be speedier. As custom no definitive time frame could be nailed down; some heal in 4 weeks, others 6 months. Like with backs, knees are an over used muscle, bone and joint structure, why it takes so long. Mine took 6 months, but I suspect its because I would not rest it properly. :)
Currently, I'm struggling with an injured upper arm that affects the shoulder and elbow joints. Been this way for about 8-9 days. No matter what I do it wont clear up. I've never had a muscle/joint injury last this long. Also the pain seems more heightened. However, it could be because I'm 52 years old why its slow to mend too...
*LOL* And yes, I'm being stubborn too; still vacuuming, dusting, lifting stuff, etc. I let it rest at night, apply hot or cold compresses as needed, take some Aleve too. I use Aspere Cream or Arnicare to the upper arm muscle as well. Hopefully by the time spring rolls around the arm will be ready for gardening. :)
Take care and rest up... (((HUGS))))
Ha ha about you still wanting to fight it - well done for not doing so. xxx

Oh my gosh, Sara I am so sorry.
I had a similar experience with my right ankle recently. I think a lot of injuries with fibro can be caused by loose ligaments (that's what my awesome massage therapist said anyhow), I've actually been trying to research different strength exercises for ligaments lately. I pray that your knee heals up quickly!
Blessing and prayers
Hi,
Thank you for the blessings and prayers. My knee has gotten a lot better with icing and wrapping. It isn't hurting much anymore unless I overdo it, which I try not to do.
Hugs,
Sara
