My first experience with Vertigo

Have had my first experience with vertigo this week. I didn't know that is was a symptom of FM, or had forgotten. Have had it for 5 days now. The first day I couldn't do anything because it was so bad, had to do a few things that day and felt like I was going to pass out. Since then it has gotten tolerable, but if I move my head to quick it does flip flops, and lose my balance from time to time.

I'm wondering what could have brought it on? Any Ideas? And how to cope with it, any suggestions would be helpful.

I am hoping it will go away and just have been a one time thing.

Hi hon you can try Dramamine. It’s OTC and works for vertigo. I have used it in the past. Also please do try to get checked out by your dr. It could be something other than fibro.

Hi

I had vertigo and went to the doctor my ear drum was about to bust. The vertigo was from the ear problems. Their are several things that can cause vertigo i would see the doctor.

Most of the meds I take state that they may cause dizziness - like I need help with that! I had been referred to a neurologist for vertigo and migraines (this was before the fibro diagnosis). She sent me to an Ear, Nose & Throat doc who after extensive testing, determined that I have 47% nerve loss in my left ear (probably caused from a severe sinus infection that wasn't treated aggressively or long enough). I did therapy for that and it helped a lot. You might wish to check that out. Best of luck with it!

Vertigo is a tough one to deal with. I know, I live with it constantly but, mine is from a problem in my brain. Most vertigo comes from a problem in the inner ear. I too recommend you see your dr about this. One of my drs had me try over the counter motion sickness pills... it didn't work for me but, it might help you (?) It won't hurt you to try it if you want to.

Good luck,

Ben

Same here. My vertigo started with a severe sinus infection and inner ear infection. It finally went away though I still have dizziness. Motion sickness pills did not work for me either. Just one of many things to come. Be well.

I actually went to my doctor yesterday, and I mentioned the vertigo to him. But we were discussing a change in my medicine, and it kind of got put on the back burner and didn't come back up. I think I might be having some other side problems because my temperature was 99.6 and it usually runs low. If it continues, I will probably go back and have him check my ears. I was just thinking it was a symptom of FM. But have never had the problem before.

Thanks for the advice, it helped.
