Well I slipped over after sleeping funny and have been having terrible neck pain all day that is getting worse, I have been to A+E just to check there was nothing seriously wrong and when I mentioned to the doctor that I have fibromyalgia he asked me if I am "seeing a psychiatrist for that". How cheeky. It is not fair that we suffer this condition and then have to have this as well. :(
Pain is not being helped by anything. I was given cocodamol which are less strong than my tramadol and I take paracetamol anyway... cocodamol contains paracetamol so it would be an overdose to take both. I had no scans or anything... just had my shoulder felt and when he pressed my neck it was sore so it was decided that it was a pulled muscle :( xx
Mike, I am unfamiliar with your health care system, but have you considered a Chiropractor, for your neck. Mine is the one who takes care of me in these situations, he adjusts me and puts me back in the right place again.
Many physicians are part of the belief that Fibromylagia is psychologically linked. If nothing else for dealing with the brain changes where it is flooded with pain signals. I know it offened you, he could have been gentler, but some do not have that 'bed side manner'. You are one of the most intelligent people I know, so you know the answer, I will post it for everyone else.

Please don't let him spoil your day, I know you are aggitated enough with your neck and everything else.
Love and hugs,
SK
Mike, I’m so sorry that dr said that to you, oh man I would have been so mad, I’m thinking when we see a dr. For an issue that is not related to our fibro, or it’s something new that we really think could be something else… I’m not going to tell them I have fibro, because right away they think we are hypochondriacs seeking attention and that our complaint is not real, I have experienced the same reaction … As soon as you say you have fibro they start treating you differently.
I feel your pain, I have 4 bad discs in my neck and if ii sleep wrong I can get a pinched nerve that hurts like crazy for days sometimes a week, I have learned over the years what works for me to help it, but for you is this new? I would see a chiro if you can, rest it, ice it, a message helps me, my son helps with traction, lying on my stomach on my bed with my head hanging over the end, all helps take pressure off the nerve, but if your not sure what it is you should see another dr. Hopefully it’s just a strained muscle and not a disc,
I hope you feel better soon
Hugs & blessings
Hey Bud, how's the neck today? Sending you a hug!
The thing is the brain being flooded with pain signals is the same in conditions like cancer but no one would dare tell a patient that their cancer is psychological.
As for chiropractors we have to be referred to them here or pay for one privately and at the moment I am too poor to even sit with heating on and am smothered in blankets the whole time :( xx
*hugs* for the disc pain... I do not know if that is what I have but apparently I should be feeling better today and I am actually feeling worse. I have taken an incredible amount of morphine just to be able to not scream and even that is not enough to get me pain free. I am just going to not mention the fibro for things from now on... hopefully it will help not mentioning it xx
Painful... very very painful lol xx
