Need Good Fibro Doc In Nashville, TN Or Surrounding Towns

Does anyone know of a good Fibromyalgia doctor in Nashville, TN or the surrounding towns (Madison, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Hermitage, Mt. Juliet, Brentwood, Franklin, etc.)?

Hi Cotton,

I found my Rheumy by going to the sites below. Let me know if this doesn’t help. Vitals you can read reviews (what I like to do before scheduling an appointment). Good luck.

Hello,

Can't help you with recommending a good Doc, as I live in UK. But I also was diagnosed by a rheumatologist, who agrred with what my Doc was doing, and sent me back to him to manage my treatment. I think this is fairly common for your Doc to manage this condition, at least in UK it is. So important to get a good Doc, I think. Good luck.

Take care, Anne

Hi,Cottonblossom! I'm in the same boat as you; I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist in Nashville last year in March. He very obviously doesn't really believe in FMS as a REAL illness even though he diagnosed me with it! In fact, he said I should see my PCP for treatment for it in the future. My PCP does a reasonable job but if you find a good FMS doctor in Nashville, I would love to know. Hope you have a great weekend! HUGS from Deb

Thanks, Deb!

My primary put me with the rheumy I have. From what I’ve read of you can find a woman that would be a plus. Vanderbilt could be a huge help as they might be doing research. Wouldn’t hurt to ask. Good luck. I’m in North Carolina. And found a good one and i bet Nashville has lots of good docs. Just another challenge for us! Good luck and blessings.

Hi cottonblossom

My rheumy treats my lupus but not my fibro she sent me to my primary doctor to treat it. It took 6 months to make the diagnoses. When you call make sure to ask if they treat fibro my doctor was listed as a fibro doctor on one site and when I ask her she checked it and had her profile removed from the site. Some primary doctors will send you to a rheumy to make the diagnoses and to rule out other things. Let us know if you find someone.

Hi Cottonblossom, I suggest going to a Chronic Pain or Fibromyalgia support group. Ask the members which doctors they have found that are good at treating fibromyalgia. Through their experience you could find a good doctor. I found mine that way.

I am in Nashville too - so if you find someone good. PLEASE let me know!!

I have been to the intragrative health center at Vandy and liked them. They sent me to a rheumatologist, which honestly, I was not super impressed with. As Anne (from the UK) said, I think they seem to have the rheumatologist diagnose and then PCP treat. I haven't been super impressed with anything so far... However, I have found some amazing support services in Nashville - a massage therapist who has been a miracle worker, a chiropractor/acupuncturist (he combines the two, which I think is awesome), a community acupuncture place and others.

So - if you need additional services, let me know. Good luck!!!!

I can recommend rheumatologist Dr. Kevin Myers at Vanderbilt Medical Center. I have used him for five+ years. He will take the time to give a correct diagnosis and weed through all the many symptoms.

There is another rheumatologist you should stay alway from that has at least two offices in the area. I will not name him here, but will say that “he is unable to look you straight in the eyes” due to an eye ailment.

I don’t have a suggestion for a rheumatologist, but my PCP treats my fibro ( & everything else that’s wrong with me, lol). She’s awesome but she is located in Dickson. That’s about 35 minutes from Bellvue traveling I-40 West. Is that too far?
