Hello. I want to introduce myself to the group. I am a 57, married Grandmother who has been dealing with Fibro for over 17 years. It all started when I was given a Sulfa drug and my life has not been the same since. At first I was bedridden for over 6 months and unable to eat food for 2 months because the pain was so bad. I lived in the bed and the bath was the only time I would get any relief. I would actually sleep in the tub, can you say dangerous? Fast forward to today, I did not get out of bed until noon, did some light housework and feeling very nauseous so I am now taking a break. I have had period where I hardly knew that I had Fibro but these are short lived.
Now, more about me and less about my condition. I do love to garden! We have 10 acres, which is overwhelming. So many plans, so little energy. LOL! I also love to make quilts. I started this addiction over 4 years ago when my first grandson was born.
I try to eat and cook healthy vegetarian meals. Another big part of my life is our 5 dogs. They keep me going.
My reason for joining is to make new Fibro friends, to help others and to get help and support from those who are understanding of the day to day challenges that we face.
Hi Happy Gardener and welcome!!! It's nice to see you here! And I love knowing that you have five dogs because I'm a big dog person too and have a few small ones and one medium sized one. They save me from going bonkers because they need things that I can generally take care of. It's so nice to be needed and be able to meet their needs! Of course, that's even more so with your grandchild, I am sure!
It really does help to come by and share your days and some of the hardships, too. And sometimes it helps to help others in need. As you say, some days aren't too bad but some days are real humdingers and can leave you in tears. So it's good to be able to share the good and the bad ones.
Ten acres? Wow, that seems like a HUGE yard!!! Your playing field, huh? Can you garden at all? I am sure it would be loads of fun to do it on ten acres of your own land but bending and squatting and kneeling can be big challenges for some of us! If you can still do it, then fantastic!!! It's such a wonderful way to be one with the world for awhile. The feeling you get when you put your hands into the soil is indescribable. So healing and soothing!
Okay, well, that's all for now. Take care and stay relatively well.
Thank you Petunia Girl for your welcome. Yes, 5 dogs do keep us busy. We have 2 black min schnauzers, 1 silver standard schnauzer who has mental issues. She has been a handful. She is lovable but has a habit of eating non edible items, such as an entire shirt, ( it had to be surgical removed) a pound of raw of raw coffee, ( another trip to the vet) and lots of other things. She also has a habit of drinking her urine and has had to have surgery for bladder stones. She is our problem child but we love her. We also have a mini poodle, Cindy Lou and a big hound dog that someone dumped at the end of our driveway.
We had a cat until last Winter when she passed away at 18 years old. No more kitties for us. Nothing against kitties.
Yes, 10 acres is a lot. Most of it has trees but the yard part is a couple of acres. We also have two creeks on the property and we are surrounded by farm land. It was a big change from our old house. It was 20 miles from Washington, DC and had a tiny lot. We moved here about 6 years ago. We love living in the country.
Welcome HappyGardener! I am really glad you joined and shared about yourself. Animals are wonderful companions. I had a special needs cat years ago (her eyes would turn nearly red and she would run around crazily and bite her tail - not playful but very hard). We finally figured out it was seizures - she was a sweet kitty. I love country life although I can't imagine having a large piece of land. Your place sounds amazing, and very soothing. Thanks for sharing! Hugs.
Hi Auburnm, Thank you for the warm welcome. I love your story of your cat. Aren’t animals awesome?
Our dogs are a lot of work but are worth every bit of it.
Again, thank you for taking the time to welcome me.
Hugs!
Hello HappyGardener! Welcome to the group! I hope that you find great friends and great support from this group! Hope to get to know you better. You are not alone! Never give in, never give up! Gentle hugs to you! :-)
Ohhh.....I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope that today is a much better day for you. If you ever want to talk, I'm here to listen. Just got some not so great news myself about my mammo today, but I will get through it. :-)
