It sounds insane, but more and more often the bones of my right arm (sometime other places) itch. That's the only way I can describe it. It's like when someone runs something lightly across your skin over and over until it's no longer a tickle but starts to become annoying or "itch"
If anything, from clothes to air, touches my arm it makes it a hundred times worse. It starts as an annoying itch, but will progress to an ache and then severe pain.
Has anyone else experienced this? I know fibro will cause some people to feel pain when they touch certain things, but I've never seen anything that sounds like this.
This is funny, but I have had the same thing on the back of my ankle for years, feels like a little tickle at first and is annoying. Now it has become more intense over the years. So you reach down to scratch the "tickle" and look to see what has been tickling you and nothing is there. Must be a nerve or something?
Yes, I've also had the annoying small muscle spasms or insane nerves that feel like somethings crawling on you. I have to sleep with long pj's so I can ignore the sensations on my legs, otherwise I'm constantly rubbing my legs to make sure there's no spiders on me. I've had these all over, including my tongue (almost went crazy that day)
I hate those little muscle spasms I have RLS so I usually take my med about an hour before bed then a nice warm bath if I am having a lot of spasms or very ache..
Hi Brightly - I have the itch as well. For me it is my head - it feels like the bones are itching. Here is the blog post I wrote about it: http://dahm-fibro.blogspot.com/2013/02/are-you-itching-to-find-out.html
I have read that this is common in MS. My PA says it is nerve pain that feels like itching that is why scratching rarely helps. It is very frustrating!!
Big Hugs,
Linnie
The one thing I remember from High School Biology class is "and itch is a low degree of pain." That means that your itch is really just pain, but not so bad that your brain classifies it as pain. I really think this is true.

Boy, I resemble these remarks!! Unscented soap for me, too, no bleach in the clothes, *NO* dryer sheets, no perfume, I can't use even sensitive skin deoderant, can't swim in an indoor pool, can't go into a fabric store without a major allergic outbreak, all new clothes and sheets have to be washed first before using--sheets especially need to be washed 2 or 3 times, oh, and no latex--I have to be careful with bandaids, plus lots of cleaning surfaces and vacuuming. I cannot wear a bra unless the band until my tatas is very narrow--sports bras create a horrible rash. Unscented laundry detergent too. I could go on and on!!!!!!!
I don't have something identical to you but the bottom of my left foot hurts if cool or cold air gets on it. But first the spot feels like I stuck it in ice water. It's a very small spot in the foot that reacts like this, and if I even touch it a certain way it happens (cold sensation.). My point to my posting is that fibro seems to change the game in how our bodies react. Some people even get a lot of pain in their HAIR and washing it can be excruciating. So somehow fibro has tricked our body into feeling strange sensations that seem to lead to pain. Maybe the itch, cold and pain sensations are all found in the same gene or same location in the gene. I wish I had the real reason that these things occur and I pray that a medical researcher is intrigued by this and therefore is studying the ball of yarn that is fibro so we can see some answers in our lifetimes.
Oh my, now you've given me something to obsess about all night! And wow, poor you for experiencing this on your tongue!!!!
I don't have skin issues, my itch is a deep down to the bone itch.
Though smells can make me sick So fast
